Stopped in here whilst on a bit of a roadtrip day out as my partners surname is actually 'Sandham'. The building itself is from the outside very underwhelming architecturally, at least in my humble opinion. Once in you can watch a film about the site...More

We called in as we are NT members and were on the way past. If we'd had to have paid to get in we wouldn't have bothered - £9/person, £7 for the guide, and £1.50 for a postcard...! However staff were very pleasant and friendly,...More

Visit the National Trust Sandham Memorial Chapel in the village of Burghclere, Newbury. A wonderful display of his wartime paintings.

This was a charming, challenging, quiet oasis: Then the NT “improved” it. The chapel was dominated by one of their “helpful” people forever offering little anecdotes, information, hand-outs when people don’t come for that individual, but instead for Stanley’s works. Problem is, those who like...More
