Family day out

First time we visited stockwood discovery centre we were pleasantly surprised. Children loved it. Adults did to. Will certainly return.

I arranged for my family and some friends to visit the Discovery Centre in August. The centre is located in a beautiful urban park with period formal gardens. There is a tea shop, play area for both younger and older children and free parking in the park.

I ve been on this place 3 times already and I always have a great time. You can have a drink and a nice day with family and friends and you can see a lot of nice things about the history, plants and old stuff!

Took the 2 kids and baby to the discovery centre and was not too bad. We were meeting family but they got delayed so we went and explored before they arrived. Impressive kids playground sturdy enough for adults too and a long silver slide. A couple of climbing walls which I even made it up one of them weirdly enough.... More

This is a great place to visit and has a lot of historic things. Also has a great park with open fields good for picnics, we visited in summer. Has a nice café not cheap but nice food and great coffee, a great place for anyone with or without children.

From gardens to stage coaches, there is something to fascinate everyone here. Lovely grounds and greenhouses, formal gardens to wartime allotments, sensory gardens, if you like plants you'll find something here for you, if not then go into the museum, be greeted by a 1950's Vauxhall, move on through the museum for an insite to recent and not so recent... Great place to get away and understand a little more of the towns history. A museum, cafe ornamental gardens chickens and Parkland makes it an ideal place to escape to. Bring s picnic rug and a hamper. You will come. Ack here time and time again. (No ball games) & keep it quiet otherwise it becomes just another park and... More

Lots of things to see and do at Stockwood. Directions and parking are easy. Entry is free. There is a cafe which is pretty good. Reasonable price if not a lot of variety. Gardens are lovely. Play area best for young children. Mossman collection museum is very good with vehicles and carriages. Bit of local history thrown in too. Would... More
