The castle is much more impressive than I had expected and it was great to wander about at our own pace. There are information boards dotted about, with guide books available for those who want more details. The castle is dog friendly and there is a car park close by. The views over the river are fantastic, all in all,... More

Today we visited the castle on a whim and we are so glad we did. Firstly, it is not massively over priced and therefore you don't begrudge spending a few pounds to wonder freely around these ruins. Whilst walking around the castle you can access most areas. Be warned there are a number of various sized steps to go to... More

Interesting site. Adequate information around the different locations inside the castle. You can spend 30 minutes to an hour walking around. There are some fantastic views to the river along the way. Well worth the entrance

Nice grounds to stroll around. Dog friendly. Lovely views of the start of the Wye Valley. A stroll around Chepstow town is also nice.

I enjoy visiting this castle, I think it could be improved with a few more information boards. Great river views

Not much in the castle as largely ruins but kids had great fun rolling down the embankments. The view from the top is amazing but needs stamina to climb but thereis plenty to enjoy lower in the castle.

Attended the Shires concert here recently and impressed with the Castle for a concert venue, relatively small compared to other open air venues but gave a nice feel and even stood at the back good views. Castle is impressive even if small some nice views and will look to spend more time here next time, hoping it is not raining... More

Been to Chepstow a couple of times but first time to the castle, a beautiful castle but a bit disappointed that it was closed even though we arrived at 3:30pm and it says online that the castle closes at 6:00pm - so a little confused why it was closed early 😕. A lovely footpath walking past the castle was good... More

This is a very beautiful castle with some ver complete rooms. However it would greatly benefit from an audio tour or simple paper tour. We bought the guide book and were overwhelmed by the information! Also the staff only informed us when we asked about a room being closed which is the guide.

Thank Claire M
