This spa is beyond desperate for a refurbishment and the hotel too for that matter. Having paid to take my best friend, sister and mother-in-law there for a rare day out together I was almost in tears at how disgustingly dated and dirty the place is. From the tatty brown robes (with various bits of bleach on) that cost £2.50... More

Disappointed with this hotel. The pictures on the website give the impression of something much better. Beautiful grand stair case which suggests opulence and grandeur from a different time. The hotel is looking tired and in need of upgrading. Our room was basic not what you would expect of a Four Star Hotel. There was only one pillow per bed,... More

Booked with a friend through Groupon. The overriding theme of the day was good service but in dated and run down surroundings. The man on the front desk found our booking promptly and gave us a quick tour which set us up for the day. Swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym were all adequate and not too busy. No... More

My friend and I decided that we needed some pampering. She only has 2 weeks to go in her pregnancy so I booked her mum to be spa treatment. I also had a facial and aromatherapy massage. The staff are very welcoming and the treatment was amazing. We also had lunch in the conservatory. All in all a lovely day

Location is really good. You can walk around the city and visit places. Beautiful and nice amenities. However, we could not access wifi. When we complained the receptionist said, our room is far from the router. You can use the swimming pool. Make sure you read the pool opening and closing times, the timings differ on weekdays, weekends and holidays.

The charm of this historical hotel billed as a Spa Hotel was amazing. We expected a spa weekend, only to find the pool, dressing rooms, etc. not accessible for the handicapped. We called to see if we could get other spa services, but to our disappointment were told they were fully booked. Upon checking out, the manager addressed the concerns... More

I booked through Groupon and got a spa day, afternoon tea and treatments for two people and for the price we paid I shouldn't complain but if I had paid full price I wouldn't be very impressed! The hotel is run down in places and needs some tlc, the changing facilities were located upstairs and need some tlc (it was... More

Relaxing, peaceful, pamper event. Enjoyed swim, afternoon "high" tea (more cake than we have seen for ages) and a treatment . Lovely

So this is what's wrong with a spa day at the palace hotel. 1) It's not big enough. This spa should not be booking in as many people as they do, today was awful. The relaxation lounge has about 5 seats in it, people were sat on the floor or in the corridor, the facilities were crowded and for the... More
