We started by visiting the small museum that shows the history of George Washingtons ancestors and his rise to become the first President of the United States. At 11.30 we enjoyed an excellent one hour long tour of the house and garden. Our guide was very informative and able to answer all the questions thrown at her. There are plants... More

We visited Sulgrave Manor as a lower Key Stage 2 group. It was a wonderful experience! Our hosts were really kind, generous and full of knowledge! The day started with dressing up as Tudors and we stayed in our costumes for the rest of the day. Next, we were involved in a role play all about Henry VIII and his... More

Took a group of 48 seniors and ALL thought it was an excellent visit. Usually you expect to get some that don't like something but to get all to agree shows how good the visit was. My group had Cymon who we would have been happy listening too for the whole afternoon. The other group said how lucky they were... More

Opened especially for our group in December, we were warmly welcomed by our guides and enjoyed a coffee and mince pie before being split up into groups for our conducted tour. A most interesting commentary on all aspects of the history and features of the manor with particular emphasis on its American connections. There are undoubtedly more spectacular attractions to... My son and I went here on a lovely autumn day and were greeted by friendly knowledgeable and extremely courteous Sulgrave Manor people. Unfortunately, the usual catering person was on leave so we were treated to large slices of Lemon or Victoria sponge cake and coffee with cream on request. We had purchased the house tour on arrival and been... More

The guide carrying out the tour was very informative and interesting with a sense of humour when telling us about the life of families who had lived in Sulgrave Manor. The joint flags of USA and UK at the entrance to the Manor showed the former joint ownership. The café was small but the soup was excellent. Well worth a... More

My wife and I wanted somewhere to go on bank holiday Monday that wasn't too far to travel. We decided to go to Sulgrave manor, ancestral home of President George Washington which is open to the public. On arrival we were made welcome by the lovely lady in the shop and informed about the guided tour of the house. The... More

Lots of Washington family items, and period pieces. Our docent was also the giftshop lady and flower arranger--excellent tour! We are the only 2 so very personal tour. Lots of George Washington memorabilia as well. Train from London then short taxi ride--arrange for a return time with the driver. We were there when it opened and stayed until 2. Nice... More

Sulgrave Manor, as everyone should know by now, is one of the ancestral homes of George Washington's ancestors. It was originally built as a Tudor Long House, but was rebuilt, then fell into dis-repair, now rebuilt again. Only half of the rebuilt side of the house is open to the public as the Curator lives in the other half. There... More
