Upton House is a lovely building in attractive grounds, set in stunning countryside. However there are two features which make it standout other country houses. The first is the wonderful art collection, by many of the old masters, and the wonderful thing is that these are not roped off and inaccessible. You can actually go right up to the pictures... More

I visited Upton Hall several years ago and decided to visit again as I was in the area. I am so pleased I did. It was totally different from my previous visit and just as enjoyable The house is currently arranged to look as it would have done during World War 2. I found it very interesting and I was... More

The theme running through Upton Hall was of world War 2. It was very interesting. The gardens were well tended and lovely walks through the woods. The restaurant served very good food.

This is a wonderful house to visit, it's currently done out as it would have been during WWII when the owner moved his bank, staff and everything, from London to avoid the blitz. So it's a different side of the war effort, with a lot of stuff you'll know about like make do and mend, but also a lot of... More

This was a very interesting view of a very brave family that although wealthy worked hard to make the lives better for a lot of people. Fantastic paintings, nice grounds and cafes. Lots of hands on exhibits that children would love.

The house and it's owners have a fabulous history which I felt had been ignored to a certain extent in favour of highlighting the part the house played in WW2 and the Merchant Bank that was housed there. Nevertheless that was interesting but it should not need to take over the whole house which is stunning. I was amazed to... More

Visited here as a stop off point on our way to Shropshire. Nice place for a leg stretch and a NT cuppa n cake. A lot of interesting lay outs and different uses of the various outdoor areas. Mirror pond has been drained for repair. Inside the house was set up as it had been during the war to house... More

We have visited Upton House on a number of occasions and always enjoyed its restrained elegance. It was given to the National Trust for safekeeping, along with its contents which include an outstanding collection of paintings. We were shocked to find that National Trust have transformed the entire house into a second-rate Second World War exhibition making it now impossible... More

Upton House has a very interesting history with the most amazing art collection. The day we went, there were talks about different aspects of the house given by a lady called Brenda who had the most amazing knowledge and really brought the place alive. The previous owner left his collection intact to the National Trust and it is absolutely wonderful.... More
