Ok. We aren’t obsessive walkers and might have been less delighted had the weather been less than the perfection it was, bright, not too hot, glimpses of sun. This is an excellent, safe simple walk around the near- island in the middle of Rutland water.

Without a doubt this is a beautiful scenic and relaxing location. I visited Rutland Water mid-week during the autumn and decided to cycle around the 23 mile perimeter. During the lap I met a few walkers and was passed by more experienced and fitter cyclists...More

An easy walk from the car park. The pathway is smooth and the views across the water are lovely. Well worth a look if you are interested in archetecture.

I always enjoy a trip to Rutland water and the italian restaurant near the church. Boat trips in the season and cycles to hire for rides around the lake taking a picnic as its 25 miles approx round trip..

You cannot let your dogs off the lead around this site or there is a potential £500 fine. Good for people who would rather not be approached by dogs, but not great for those with well behaved dogs that want to have a sniff.

Hired bikes at Whitwell, Rutland Water. Parking cost £6.00 for the day. Cycled anticlockwise, hillier than I thought it would be, a good workout for a slightly out of condition 63 year old, but very enjoyable nonetheless! Did the full circuit including Hambleton Peninsula, about...More

Three hours, plus another for stoppage time for ice-cream, pub stop etc. Take a map, as some of the route is poorly signed (ironically, particularly where the route goes through the popular carparks, as it's not obvious... More
