A small museum with friendly staff. Good displays and very descriptive history, worth checking out if you are interested in the local history.

It is ok for a small town. It tries to invoke some feeling of age and experience where Lymington is concerned. Nice people run it, very helpful too.

What a lovely place. The staff are friendly and the Museum is really interesting with lots of local history put forward in a very informative way. Even a little area to stop and enjoy a quick hot drink should you wish. Good onsite shop with local bits and bobs for sale. Recommend for a rainy day or even s sunny... More

Local museums deserve all the support they can get - we should take pride in the civic heritage of Britain. Lymington's own museum is slightly tucked away which may explain the relatively low footfall. It has an interesting collection of artefacts which tells to story of the local community over the ages and some high quality art. The welcome and... More

A small museum that punches above its weight. It has a permanent exhibition of local interest and always puts on major exhibitions of art from both local and internationally renowned artists. The quality is extraordinary and following the refurbishment of the museum in 2017 ever more ambitious exhibitions are planned. If you're visiting Lymington set aside an hour or two... More

St Barbe have a plethora of exhibitions and talks coming this year so don't forget to come and visit. Not just a museum and art gallery but somewhere to meet for coffee, information leaflets on things near and far with a majority of mixed expertise. The Old School Gallery selling exhibition from local craftsmen. Also a place to buy the... More

A very well presented exhibition of artists depicting the south coastline with very varied styles. We were lucky to be in Lymington before it ended at the weekend. There is regular display of social history during the ages, many exhibits jogging the memory!! We visited on a very wet day, and had read about the exhibition online so excellent opportunity.

Visited St Barbe this month for breath of fresh air. The exhibition had a greater range of artworks than I had expected with jems from the modernists e.g terrific Peter Lanyon plus standout Paul Nash. Congratulations to the curator for putting together wide content from Constable through to Yhap arranged by themes that gave extra meaning to the content. War... More
