This was a special trip for my Bell-mad son's 11th Birthday treat. The tour was really informative, and great to see the Foundry working, the cast pour was most impressive. It was lucky to see the Southwark Cathedral Bells awaiting repair, especially as we rung these for the Birthday treat last year!! The ring of 12 was another bonus, it... More

Went on an organised tour, which cost £10 and lasted about 2 hours. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and readily answered questions. I never realised such places still exist - they cast new bells, refurb old bells and can even re-tune them. Such a wonderful place to visit and good to see that the old skills are being kept... The bell foundry was making bells for church, and the tour we had was ok, but lacked professionalism. There was no meet and greet or welcome, after wandering around the small museum, a video suddenly appeared on a screen, which eventually caught everyone's attention and conversations stopped. I think was meant to be the official start of the tour, but... More

On a whim I went with a group of bell ringers from Ossett to watch their new bell being cast, not knowing what to expect. I found the tour to be fascinating, the guide excellent, and the Victorian ambience of the place delightful, and learned a lot about bells in the process.

This place is very, very boring as it is just bell after bell. Also, it is disgusting how dirty some of the workers were as they had dirt all over their hands and face. The souvenirs are priced stupidly high. If you are a pensioner, you might find it interesting as only old people would find this place interesting.

This "factory" is like none other - you are literally taken back 150 years in seeing their premises, the practices of making bells etc. Do go on this tour its certainly not one to miss

Once again with our American friends. A short tour of the works but no casting. The site is truly Victorian but bell making goes back nearly 1000years. You can't fail to be impressed with the history within these walls. But it is still a living business not just a tourist attraction and the business naturally takes precedence. You need closed... I've passed the foundry so many times and I finally got around to visiting. Very interesting, the tour guide was excellent so much information about the history of the foundry as well as what is happening currently. Fabulous for Loughborough to have the world's largest bell foundry. Such an important place in a small Midlands town. If you have an... More
