The most beautiful place in Britain (apart from Yorkshire) we were lucky that the weather for March was more than pleasant and thoroughly enjoyed the views and the old fishing village/smugglers paradise type of feel. Great for children and family holidays.

Fowey Town Council must have a death wish.Seldom have I been anywhere which is so unwelcoming and lacking in basic facilities. Signposting is virtually non existent and the few signs it has are highly confusing.Worst examples are signs for car parks and the "one and only toilet". The topography clearly makes parking difficult but a few helpful signs would help... More

Fowey is an all authentic pretty as a picture cornish fishing village with scenery second to none, its worth just walking up the hill slightly to come across the 'wall of holes' which is basically a garden wall set with 5 holes inserted that you can look through, allowing you to take pictures creating stunning views of the bay in a picture... Best visited in the low season, Fowey can be very busy in summer. Fowey rises up from the river along a steep valley. Best viewed from Polruan on the opposite bank, there is a regular passenger ferry service between the two villages. Fowey's narrow streets are attractive and the quayside is a lovely place to sit and eat an ice... More

Fowey is really nice, I have been twice and loved it - I walked from the river mouth through the town itself then crossed over to the other side on the ferry and walked down again, they crossed back on a different ferry back to Fowey.

This is a real Cornish estuary with fishing boats, rowing gigs and yachts combining to give a real marine feel. Good ferries but very narrow streets. Take care, the hedges are solid under the greenery.

We stayed in Fowey for a few days, it is a lovely little town with great walks along the estuary out to the sea. Tonnes of history, good pubs and eateries, who could want for more

If you're in the area, Fowey (apparently pronounced Foy) is well worth a visit. A lovely old town, narrow streets, selection of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants - and is popular for crabbing. Bit of a climb back up to the main car park but well worth it.

It was our first visit here and we found the estuary very picturesque. We hopped on a ferry to Polruan which only takes 5 minutes and it's quite beautiful to look back at Fowey from there. Shame about the cars which are allowed to drive down the tiny streets in the centre of Fowey! With hardly any pavement available, it... More
