Fermanagh County Museum at Enniskillen Castle has reopened after undergoing a £3.5 million redevelopment. Enniskillen Castle, situated beside the River Erne in County Fermanagh, was built almost 600 years ago by Gaelic Maguires. Guarding one of the few passes into Ulster, it was strategically important throughout its history. In the 17th century it became an English garrison fort and later served as part of a military barracks. This historic site houses two museums, Fermanagh County Museum and The Inniskillings Museum and Fermanagh Visitor Information Centre. Opening Hours Monday to Friday (all year round): 9.30am* - 5.00pm Saturdays (all year round): 11.00am - 5.00pm Sundays (Jun to Sept): 11.00am - 5.00pm Bank Holidays - 9:30am* - 5:00pm Closure period - Enniskillen Castle will be closed over the Christmas & New Year holiday period. *9.30am opening for new visitor centre and 10:00am for other buildings Admission

We arrived at Enniskillen Castle in order to visit the Inniskillings Museum. My maternal Grandfather had served with the Regiment during the 1st & 2nd World Wars and following my parents deaths in 2016 I had some memorabillia which i wanted to share. When we arrived at reception we were told that the Curator was on her lunch and that... More

Enjoyed our trip to the Castle and Museums. The military museum was very good and full of great stories about the Innislillen Fusiliers.

Great displays and worth a trip to pass a few hours. Respectable cafe too. Would recommend others to visit. Especially as it is indoors (perfect for a wet day).

Took the kids (4 and 1) on a chilly afternoon. They loved the museum sections, which were sufficiently interesting and "bite sized" to hold their interest while the wife read all the info panels. My son loved the canon. There are dressing up clothes in a box in the castle keep part, which everyone loved. The cakes in the little... More

Was not disappointed enniskillen showcasing its history well. Admission fee was five pounds for an adult so affordable. Devenish island is explored along with world war 2 historical events. Not to be missed if you are into your history and staying in Enniskillen.
