Overview
More
Bude Sea Pool is a part-natural, partially man-made tidal swimming pool on the beach at this popular seaside town in North Cornwall. It was built in the 1930s under the cliffs of Summerleaze Beach to provide safe bathing in sea water, but away from the dangerous Atlantic currents in the bay. Measuring around 91m by 45m, it is topped up at high tide by the Atlantic Ocean. Since 2012 it is managed by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool, a not-for-profit charity that took over the facility when public funding was withdrawn. The spacious Pool provides plenty of room for paddling or serious swimming: inflatables, snorkels, surfboards and even scuba divers are welcome - just be considerate of other users, please. Bude Sea Pool is open throughout the year and is FREE for all to enjoy. Lifeguards are on duty at peak times. Children must be accompanied at Bude Sea Pool at all times.

Whilst in another beach walk I was shown the wonderful sea pool. What a resource to have in Bude. Beautiful clean Atlantic water, constantly changed by the tides in a well maintained sea pool. So lovely to see.

Just returned from Bude when we used the sea pool on one of the hottest days of the year. I loved it. It was great to cool down and float around in such stunning surroundings. I'll definitely be back.

Thanks for your great review. It is lovely to be in the Pool on a hot summer's day; there were lots of others there too last week enjoying the sea water experience. Hopefully you will come back again soon.

Popped down after school with the children and enjoyed ourselves so much as always, it's safe secure and we are so lucky to have such an amazing asset on our door step. A great place to catch up with others too 💞

On a beach which has rough seas, perfect for surfers, this pool is ideal for swimming, open air with sea water and it seems to have been re-furbished recently.

Thank you for your review. The Pool was recently subject to its annual repair and maintenance, as you can imagine the North Atlantic takes its toll each winter. It is now sparkling and safe for the summer season.

A great location surrounded by the sea and beach, clean and tidy and very popular. Nearby is a shop and cafe too. All the fun of the sea without so much of the danger. Perfect for younger children.

I love this place, been visiting it for a number of years. Since the refurb it's much better, cleaner water, aqua coloured, new beach huts look great as well. This is a safe environment for the kids and all the family, with limited seating area...More

Thanks for you great review Tony! Glad you appreciate the renovation and maintenance work that has been undertaken this year to repair the winter storm damage. This costs about £50,000 every year and we are only able to do this because we have a very...More

Hi Tina, thanks for your review, glad you had such a great time. You are right, the experience is better if you wear a wet suit as the North Atlantic can be quite chilly but many of our regulars do not swim with a wetsuit,...More

Clean, well maintained and great to have access to the sea and swimming in the sea when the tide was out! younger children enjoyed paddling without the waves and the older ones (adults!) enjoyed jumping in. Great fun

This was great to swim in as the sea was very cold and a bit ruff. The beach was so quiet and plenty of places to just sit and chill.More

I would say yes, the sea and the pool temperature is still only around 13 degrees, so your swim will be much more enjoyable with a wet suit. There are several places in Bude where you can hire wet suits for the day at low... More
