Whereas most country houses provide refreshment facilities to match the elegance of the house....this is certainly not the case at Sledmere. The Terrace Cafe appears to be targeting a very much less discerning clientele...rather a mix of low grade cafe/creche serving food to sate their hunger rather than an imaginative menu. As far removed from a National Trust Tea room... More

I visited Sledmere House with my family which included my 2 year old Great Grandson. The day was sunny and bright and the whole area was very clean and well maintained. The entry cost was expensive but felt it must be needed to upkeep the whole place. My Great Grandson loved the playground, the tractors and the castle. and especially... More

Had a lovely morning walking round the gardens. It was very chilly, so it was very quiet. Cafe nice.

From March the admission fee to the house for adults is £10.50 and the garden £7.50 which is rather expensive. The cafe is nice. We enjoyed the scones. We also ordered the quiche which was a bit of a mistake, as it was disappointing for the price. My partner said that the cafe had a strange smell but it didn't... More

We stayed in the old fire house cottage on the outside of the village. It is a brilliant area from which to explore the rest of the region, going to the coast or further inland. Sledmere House itself has a great setup for people of all ages, including children. There are enough interesting features to keep a visit going for... More

Had a great time here yesterday. Free entry and the snow drops were beautiful. The stables are amazing as are the grounds. In a lovely part of the world. Horses, sheep, a pig, turkeys and chickens too! The house was closed up but the gardens were immaculate.

Sledmere house holds the usual facilities that stately homes have across the country, everything is at the average level meaning that you will not have a bad experience however you will not be blown away. The animals include horses, pigs, sheep, chickens and guinea fowl. We did not enter the house or visit the gardens so I have no opinion... More

I attended the art fair at Sledmere. What a gem. The event showcased local artists displaying their art. The event was fantastic full of great art and inspiration. Followed by a lovely walk around the grounds and cake in the cafe. A perfect day.
