Sledmere has something for everyone. A good play are for youngsters, a stunning walked garden, plenty of space to run around, very and tractor rides,a fascinating mini museum and a superb house with the best guides I have ever encountered. And then you can relax at their cafe which has the most beautiful cakes as well as strong coffee. They... More

Sledmere house is a real gem and there's so much more to find. It's still being developed but there's lots of circular walks from the house, through the woods & deer park with fantastic scenery - I've taken the kids in all weathers so have seen every season!

A truly beautiful house, very much an ancestral home. Contains charming art collections and a huge organ (played on Thursday afternoons). You see almost all the rooms in the main block. The only thing that confused us was the photographic policy. The leaflet said no photography but there was no signage at the house to say so and people were... More

The house is beautiful with very helpful and knowledgable staff. What would have been useful was a little map of the grounds. It's not made entirely clear that you can walk towards the folly and around the deer park which is quite pleasant. There is a beautiful walled garden if you like that sort of thing and a children's play... More

We only called in for lunch and loved it. The cafe is easy to access without going into house and grounds. A lovely setting and good choice of food. It was a beautiful day in summer holidays and hence very busy, but service was really quick. We had a ploughman's with pork pie and cream tea for one. The pork... More

A truly wonderful experience with the added bonus of an Organist playing. The house itself is well worth the £9 50 ( for pensioners). We visited the rest of the attractions although inclement weather might prevent people from going into the walled garden and stable area. Very nice apples growing which I cheekily sampled! Plenty of room for children to... More

Lord Swinton made a charming visit into an unforgettable experience when I visited with my parents yesterday. He was utterly delightful in his knowledge of and live for the house. He shared many amusing anecdotes and historical facts that simply brought the visit to life for us all. I will definitely be joining the gold card scheme in 2017 and... More

This visit was a joy! Sledmere House is absolutely beautiful and has been restored to a superb standard. Each room is unique with lovely furnishings and paintings and attention to detail is what most impressed me especially in the amazing ceilings. My favourite room was the library which takes your breath away. The grounds and walled garden are immaculate. I... More
