It's always nice to have somewhere to take friends when they visit that is unusual, Nellies never disappoints. Quaint, gas light, friendly, always busy, but service with a smile. Good selection of beers, especially the Organic fruit beers!

I can guarantee you wont ever have been in a pub like this. Its old, antiquated and steeped in history. Warning - very poorly lit and unbelievably uneven tiled floors which may be a problem to sight impaired or infirm visitors. But this adds to the charm, uniqueness of this little gem. Food is lovely. Beer is great. Its a... More

Have been visiting The White Horse Inn (aka Nellies) for years, but not reviewed it before. It has a unique old world atmosphere. There are a multitude of little rooms, nooks and crannies to sit in and drink. They are all fairly dark with interesting pictures and other paraphernalia on the walls. The beer (Sam Smiths) is of high quality... More

We always visit Nellies whenever we go to Beverley. It really is like stepping back in time with open fires, gas lighting and lots of small rooms. The people are friendly and the beer is great. What more can be said?

Apparently also known as Nellies. Many nooks and crannies with lit fires ... a very welcome venue during storm Doris ... oh and very cheap beer

My friend took me in here as this is where she used to drink as a girl, just around the time that females could start going in pubs, it was like taking a step back in time, it is like a maze of rooms, the one we sat in had the original gas lighting, (my friend kept calling Nellie's) as... More

This gas lit pub is one of the few old original pubs that looks like time has stood still With its maze of rooms, open fires, wooden floors and dark brown anaglypta walls and ceilings with gas lighting it has a certain charm and warmth to it The white horse is also known by the locals as Nellies not sure... The White Horse (known locally as Nellies) is quite a unique venue. It hasn't changed for at least 100 years & retains many artifacts from that period. The real ale is a real draw for enthusiasts and prices for drinks are extremely reasonable. The big open fire is always stoked up in the winter months and it's a very friendly.... More

Only Sam Smiths drinks here. Cheap Dark Very old, very quaint building - with lots of little rooms off - occupied by local people enjoying a pint and a natter. Packed when we went in - and no-one spoke to us for an hour apart from the bar staff. Recommended as the "Nellie" - but not really a place for... More

Great atmosphere and very different. Like a museum. Coal fires, cash only but low prices. Not a foodie pub but like they used to be
