Fantastic food

Great British pub grub. Good selection of drinks and one of the best pubs in the Lake District. Really cosy inside due to the age of the building.

Tucked away slightly from the hustle and bustle of the main street, this pub was a relief to find, as it was quiet and cosy with a relaxing atmosphere. A good range of beers and some very good-looking food (we didn't eat there) makes the place a hidden gem. Nice fire and interesting decor made for a pleasant hour or... More

Called for lunch with my wife and daughter and were very impressed. There was a good varied menu with a specials board. Two of us had the fish goujons and one had the beef and ale pie. All the meals were hot and delicious and there was plenty, in fact maybe too much. Staff were friendly and helpful and there... More

Lovely atmosphere, great staff. Food good and hot - get there early. In the Summer the outside patio is great for al fresco drinking especially when there is live music.

My visit to the Hole in 't Wall was exceptionally delightful. We rang up but it said that you couldn't book a table and that you just had to show up. When we arrived, the pub was quite busy but I can understand as it is such a lovely place. We were greeted by a warm and welcoming environment with... More

Fantastic little pub. Very traditional in style and ambience. We all loved it and regretted going to another pub afterwards for food. We all agreed we should have stayed there. Only down side was barman moaning quite openly about customers from previous night. Quite unprofessional. That aside, we had a great afternoon there.

During a weekend break in Bowness, we enjoyed a couple of 'lost hours' in this pub. Great log fire, warm welcome and friendly locals. Getting a seat can be pot luck, but it is worth getting your drinks and waiting for a table or space at the bar to become available. There is a great range of drinks available and... More

This is a wonderful cosy pub, especially on a cold winters day. Roaring log fire, good food and real ales. Favourite pub in bowness, with lots of history. Would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
