This location provides access to historic gems, Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle plus a library and museum. None should be missed. There is also a super eatery.

This is well worth the visit, it a beautiful setting for Durham Cathedral. It's a bit of a walk up the hill and possible difficult for anybody walking problems.

We stopped here in between all the tours we were doing at the top of the hill. It is a bit more expensive than your average café but the food and service is excellent. There are indoor and outdoor seating and high chairs on request....More

When you leave the castle or cathedral take awhile to admire the buildings and stop for a photo shoot at the very clever designed garden

A beautiful green surrounded by historic buildings on all sides. In good weather, it offers a perfect spot to relax and soak in some sun.

What can be better, than standing on the Green with views of all the historic buildings? The Cathedral, Library, Castle and more. Public loos can be found on one side (not many in Durham and good to know where they are). The Uni Archeological Museum...More

Dominated by the cathedral, it is quite easy to miss some interesting other buildings around the green which are still used. The green itself sometimes covered by marquees when the graduation ceremonies are on.
