In a spectacular pterosaur shaped building watching over Sandown’s blue flag beach is Britain’s first purpose built dinosaur museum. Walk back through fossilised time to the period of the dinosaurs where you will find amongst the fossils many interactive displays. On a recreated landscape enhanced by sights, smells and sounds you will meet life sized dinosaurs including our animatronic Neovenator. Guided fossil hunts (which must be pre-booked) have proved to be a popular addition to a visit.

This is only a few rooms but for little ones there are plenty of buttons to press and sandpits to excavate. Took us just over an hour to traverse but ticket allows you to return within a week so can imagine little dinosaur addicts could make the most out of the price of the ticket.

Dinosaurs isle is an excellent museum with plenty of interactive exhibits. Our 5 year old loved it although it is initially a little dark and could be scary for younger children that is soon lost once in the main hall and there's the chance to interact with dinosaur models and dig for fossils. Good displays providing the right level of... More

Mainly all in one large warehouse type room. Reasonable range of displays (some interactive). Information of good quality. It would probably to difficult to spend more than an hour here unless your kids get really into doing drawings and other activities, and it would be easy to be finished quicker than that. Overall, well presented and interesting.

Fascinating with lots of Dino info to take information to take in. Sheets for the children to complete to keep them occupied. Fossils in sand for them to uncover with brushes. Archeologists at work behind glass so you are able to see how they extract fossils from rock. Lots of interactive stuff for the children to get their hands on.

It took us around 20 minutes to get round, to which my son didn't find anything overly interesting. Everything looked clean and tidy, but that's probably because hardly anyone goes there. I wish I read Trip Advisor reviews before visiting as it looks as though majority of other people didn't particularly enjoy their visit either. I'm kind of glad we... More

Great indoor attraction for families but some of the dinosaur activities don't work and are a bit dated. Fun activity trails and exhibits & just across the way from the zoo.

We visited Dinosaur Isle when the weather didn't smile on us and I have to admit our expectations were quite low. Don't be put off by the rather grim looking building - inside is a really good exhibition of fossils and dinosaurs. Lots of interactive elements for kids (ours 5 and 7), and rather impressively evocative written explanations of all... More
