I have seen Damien Hirst's Cow and calf in formaldehyde. This is just as extraordinary. I am not sure I like it, but a local said it brings visitors to the town. They then spend their money in the local shops and restaurants, so all...More

The Emperors new clothes. This time its a naked pregnant woman with a sword and scales standing on books. It has nothing to do with Ilfracomb. Send it back to the donor ASAP

I think she is ugly but a very clever concept. It was a fab gesture of Hirst to give her to the quay and bring visitors/money in.

It's a marmite statue, you either like it or hate it. One thing for sure you can't miss it if you visit the harbour at Ilfracombe. As a keen amature photo bod, I found many different angles to take pictures, so for me it was...More

It is probably the ugliest thing we have ever seen. At least the more "acceptable" side faces land. When we came back on boat from Lundy Island and faced the horrible side, my first reaction was how depressing it was. I understand it is art...More

Came across Verity whilst visiting Ilfracombe, one of my favourite places. She is quite stunning to see. Absolutely huge and quite dramatic. It was on the stormy side but she stood high, not letting the wind phase her. Ilfracombe is very lucky to have her.

Not to everyone's taste but I like Verity. She stands there in the rain looking shiny and sleek. Taking in the weather and glowing. The plinth and seating area were completed this time we visited - last year they were surrounded by harris fencing. She...More

Visited here by chance as was in Ilfracombe on a day trip. Thought we'd check out the statue in the harbour. Looks ok from one angle - a pregnant lady. But from the other angle looks like you can see a cross section of said...More

cant see what this has to do with Ilfracombe, the harbour is a fishing port and has its attractions and history. This monstrosity doesn't seem to have anything to do with the port. It may well have a deep twisted meaning to Damien Hirst, but...More

A Bronze Statue! A statue of a pregnant lady looking out to sea! This appears to have divided the locals but looks like it draws in the visitors so they cant really complain!
