The accommodation above the pub offers a fantastic base for exploring Ilfracombe and the surrounding area. We were welcomed like old friends when we arrived and soon took advantage of the very good value and local(ish) beers! We’ll certainly try to go back in the...More

Stopped to have a quick drink while finding our feet ended up staying most of the afternoon! This is really a locals pub but if you want to meet real characters drop in. Landlady and bar staff are really welcoming especially if you ask for...More

Twice we visited this pub as there was lots of space & good beer. However it seemed the pub was just coming out of its winter slumber - nothing was quite finished, decor included. Staff were sometimes very friendly, sometimes indifference crept in. Definitely a...More

The drinks were great, there is no doubt about that, but the service was better. The lady working on the bar was very bubbly and very helpful and that made our visit here a delight. I highly recommend stopping in for a few drinks.

I was a little unsure when we first walked in.... I thought perhaps we had made a massive mistake. Seating is not the best - our choice was opposite the door, near the toilets or what appeared to be a church pew/bench. At the bar...More

We visited this pub on a couple of occasions. Cosy and friendly atmosphere. We were shown the rooms upstairs for hire. Very nicely decorated and spacious. We are considering booking a room for the summer.

Positives were the staff. Excellent and very helpful. Downside was the room which on booking was described as 1 bed apartment but was actually an en-suite room. Heating didn't work and no heater at all in large bathroom. Overall the room did not have the...More
