Lovely to have it to ourselves...perhaps better signs from main street would help!

Well worth the £4.60 adult entrance fee. Very pleasant and informative gentleman on desk. Guide book worth its £2.99 as includes loads of extra facts and photos. Building well... read more

Well worth the £4.60 adult entrance fee. Very pleasant and informative gentleman on desk. Guide book worth its £2.99 as includes loads of extra facts and photos. Building well maintained and really important in local history. Pity Pickering doesn't seem to rate it as highly as the delightful railway .....it took us some searching to find ....come on council....extra signage... More

My sister and I spent a great hour looking around Pickering Castle, one of the best examples of a ruined castle in the country. It's a bit pricey to get in (it's looked after by English Heritage) but worth it. The views from the tower are stunning, 360 degrees of gorgeous countryside. There's also an interesting exhibit in one of... More

We called in today, it's a lovely place and quite a surprise. The car park is a bit on the small size. The views from the top of the castle is lovely and you can see for miles! We had a lovely walk around and the ladies in the ticket office were very friendly. We were allowed to take our... More

This was the second time I have visited the castle. It is very interesting and an atmospheric place to visit. There is some children friendly information and the views from the top of the castle are stunning.

Visited the castle and as a heritage member it was free. Would have been disappointed if I'd had have to of paid. Very limited signage and information unless you pay for a guide. No proper paths and limited access to the towers which remain. More interesting properties and castles to visit in the area. There is a small car park... More

Parked up in the centre and walked up. Passing many nice houses on the way. Just a tip though there is a car park by the Castle. Nice views from the castle. Able to use our English Heritage membership so free entrance which was nice....

This was our first castle visit of many in Yorkshire. The setting and the explanations make it very accessible and one appreciates the labor and the strategy of the Norman Castle design. Take the time to explore and ask questions and read the placards to imagine what this would have looked like when first built and then the adaptions upon... More

wonderful example of an original Norman castle, superb views, clean, friendly and helpful staff on duty - even if she did try to push English Heritage membership lol.

We go fairly regularly. It is fairly small and never busy. The views from the mound or nice. Take your imagination and a picnic with you and you'll have a lovely time here.
