I* had read about this village when at home in the UK so we thought we would add it to our itinerary & we were not disappointed, the tour was well worth the expense, but it is a minimum of 5 people, we just teamed up with two more couples. If you decide to do ensure you don't put in the donation box (unless you want too) as this is a separate cost centre. The tour was really very good & so informative. Also all the old tribal clothes are worn every Wednesday evening at 7.00pm (you are allowed to attend).

This is definitely a highlight of this region not to be missed. I would highly recommend doing the guided tour rather than just popping into the museum. Seeing the different dwellings, instruments and art and learning about the culture and traditions of the Gitxsan people was fascinating.

This is a must stop point of interest when in the area. Sadly not enough of us for a tour. Perhaps a brochure to use on a self guided tour would be helpful. But we loved it anyway. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Worth a visit.

We spent about 3 hours. Our delightful young guide took us through 3 longhouses & explained the history of the area. The grounds just had such an aura of peace. A soft time-out.

Immersive historic village. Our guide was relaxed and brought the place and culture alive. The cafe (situated in one of the longhouses) has good food and is reasonably priced. No photos inside the buildings though.

Ksan is on a site by the river and has several buildings. The Museum is open to all but the guided tour is recommended in order to see inside the other buildings and get insight into the traditions of the Gitsan. The collection of masks and costumes for the dance troupe is a real treasure. This was the third visit but the first tour. I'm glad we did it.

Longhouses with impressive paintings and Museum with relevant items and information to get in touch with traces of the roots of gitsan people. Very impressive and important!
Museumshop with original NorthWestCoastArtspieces in wood and metal, of the finest, crafted by regional native artists.
It is an absolute MUST to visit!

Sadly we were unable to have a guided tour of the houses which would have made quite a difference to our visit, but the museum was really interesting (no charge, donations only), and we could see the setting by the river (just like a model in the museum in Victoria!)

It was well worth the price of the tour plus the nearly hour of time, to be able to go into the Frog House, the Eagle House, and the Fireweed House, three important representations of long houses used by the First Nations people of this whole Northwest region.
However, we really regretted that they could not provide helps for totem pole interpretation. Our guide was able to provide comments on a few figures on a couple of the poles. But we really wanted a printed sheet. We found clues about a couple of the images on one pole spread through comments on three or more post cards they sell. No book that would help, either.
Plus, while they would not allow photos inside the buildings, it would have been wonderful to have bought a pamphlet or small booklet that would have had pictures (or even drawings or sketches).
If they would have had either (or both), we would give fives stars.
