I live five minutes from the trail head, which makes this hike a four season activity for me. I don't take this fact for granted! As a general description, once you arrive at the parking lot you have two options to the top: 1) highway side or the trail on the left or 2) trail leading up to your right, which is steeper, less marked and has a few poisonous trees to keep an eye out for. If you are looking for sweeping views, stick to the trail on the left, although they both end up on the summit with panoramic views of Okanagan Lake, the myriad of vineyards below and West Kelowna wineries and community. In summer, it can be extremely hot as there is not a lot of shade to be found. Take plenty of water and wear sturdy footwear! If you have your four legged friend with you, please remember water for them to as there are no facilities on the trail whatsoever. In the winter, crampons or hiking shoes with aggressive tread are your friend as it can be snowy or downright icy. Getting to the top is as simple as following the switchbacks as you climb 270 vertical meters. The trail is well defined and has km markers @ 1, 1.5, 2 & 3kms. There are a number of lookout points that afford simply breathtaking picture opportunities! The steepest section is the last kilometer. The trail is narrow but perfectly safe. I always find people very accommodating when you need to pass by one another, and it's not uncommon for people to stop and chat for a few minutes. So moderate or challenging? If you take your time I would categorize this hike as moderate. I have seen young children and teens hiking with their parents all the way through to a few old timers who brave it in any weather. When you put your head down and truck up this can be an amazing workout. At a leisurely to average pace, plan for 45 mins to an hour to the top and about the same down. Flat out, 30 minutes up, 30 minutes down, give or take. Overall, if you are looking for a scenic walk in the woods on a leisurely trail this is NOT that hike. If you are looking for viewpoints and are willing to put in some effort, the reward at the top is very worth it!

Excellent vista to hike up the mountain, meeting friendly locals along the way. Take your dog to motivate you up the switch backs

The trail is all switchbacks so although it is not easy it is doable by anyone even if you are not super fit!

There are actually 2 other trials that connect to this so you can do easy, moderate (Rush is classified that way) or hard slopes. Factor in 30-45 min to get to the top and about half or 2/3's coming down but don't underestimate the challenge of coming down, especially on the hard slope. Proper shoes with good tread recommended as the path is hard packed sand or rocks that could make the wrong footwear a tragic mistake
