About
Frind Estate Winery is a breathtaking lakefront winery situated on the historic Bennett Property in West Kelowna, British Columbia. The property was purchased in 2017 after Markus Frind sold his company Plenty of Fish and wanted to do something more hands-on. With over 500 years of family farming history, Markus wanted to combine his two passions; technology and agriculture. Today Frind Estate Winery is one of the most advanced wineries in the world, using cutting edge technology to create truly distinctive wines. Taste wine whilst savouring the lake view today!

We showed up like a typical tourist at 10:30 in the morning without any reservations. Shanti took care of us and set up a wine tasting and lunch reservations for us. When we came back we tasted (and bought) some great wines and had a fabulous pizza and salad on the patio

Very nice winery. Such a nice location right on the beach. Comfortable atmosphere. We had a lovely meal on the patio with sit down service and a friendly waitress. There is also the option to purchase food from the take out section and eat on the beach or picnic area. Tasting was pleasant and the server was knowledgable.

I'm hoping this place is just going through growing pains and will eventually improve, as the location is lovely and there is clearly potential. We tried to make a tasting reservation a few days in advance, but there was no availability online. I added myself to the waitlist but never heard back. As we were in the area, we just dropped by to see if there was walk-in availability on the day we had tried to book, and had no problem getting in. We stood at a tasting bar, $10 fee waived if you buy wine. Our server was also helping another group, and spent all his time with them and seemed uninterested in us. He didn't explain anything, not even how many wines we could choose to taste, just pointed us to the list of what we could choose from. We said we would focus on the dry whites and the reds, then the first thing he poured us was an off-dry white blend, which we didn't care for. He seemed offended we didn't want to drink it all (we routinely don't empty the glass when we are tasting), and there was no pour bucket so he kept having to touch our glasses and carry them over to a sink to pour out the remaining wine. When we selected what we would like to taste next from the list, rather than leaving it to him to decide, he was surprised by our choice, saying "no, you should try this instead", pouring us an unoaked white which, again, was not to our taste. We stood unattended for several minutes between each taste as he chatted with the other group, which was finished tasting and, incidentally, didn't end up buying any wine. Finally at the end we chose our two inexpensive bottles to purchase, he got them from the shelf and put them out of our reach, then said, "I'm just going to clean up a bit here", and proceeded to remove glasses from the now empty-except-for-us tasting bar and clean up the garbage the other group had left on the counter. That done, he then offered to accept our payment for the wines. Very odd experience, and the wines were average at best. We will not be back.

We wanted to make a reservation for the café.
This wasn’t possible without a membership in the wine club, which I had registered for on-line.

I was asked whether my credit card had been charged for wine. No, it hadn’t.
‘Therefore I wasn’t a member’

My conclusion was we have to buy wine in order to make a reservation. This sort of pressure tactics may work in quality vineyards like Cedar Creek and Mission Hill.

But I refuse to drink Frind’s mediocre wine in order to lunch at the delightful café.
Confidentially, their own staff agree the wine is nothing beyond the ordinary at best.

There are plenty of fish in the sea. We fish elsewhere. Frind will need years to become a quality wine maker.

We visited Frind Winery July 16 th and were greeting by a lovely host. We were able to sample wines without a wait (5 tastings for $10). The girl pouring the wines was a delight ( Deborah) she was knowledgeable about the wines as well provided us the interesting history of how Frind Winery came about. We were so impressed with the quality of wine and down to earth atmosphere that we became wine club members that day. The winery is set on the Okanogan Lake on a beautiful estate that has a modern wine tasting area, a bistro where you can pick up snacks and light lunch. At the bistro you are able to purchase wine by the glass or the bottle and you can take it outside and sit at one the picnic tables or benches looking out to the picturesque lake. You could even bring your own picnic lunch and sit on the beach and take a dip in the refreshing lake. This winery is kid friendly and no purchase is necessary to venture their nicely groomed grounds or take some time to relax and enjoy the amazing views. We met the owner Marcus Frind, who was circulating the winery while we there ensuring that everything was just perfect. I definitely recommend that anyone that visits wine country in Kelowna to visit this winery.

We had a fabulous time at Frind on Friday. It was our 2nd time there and the host Samantha was fabulous. Samantha stayed late to accommodate our group, she is knowledgeable, easy going, funny and accommodating. The Frind is right on the water, great wines, fabulous atmosphere and well Samantha she is a true professional.

If you get a chance visit the Frind, if Samantha is your host your in for a treat.

Need to better manage tables and reservations, clean the tables in the takeout area, make sandwiches that don't go slimy when they sit around for too long.
My friend's pizza was very good. The sandwiches were stale, slimy and terrible.
I'd like to support local but won't be going again.

Three of us went down to Frind about 4pm. We hoped to be able to sit on the patio. Even though lots of tables were empty, the hostess said they were being held for reservations at 5pm or later. She said we could use the takeout service and sit at tables on the beach. We opted for that. I scurried down to obtain a table while my friend went to order wine and her meal (pizza). No tables were cleared of garbage - bottles, glasses and wrappings. My husband came down to the table I found and moved all the debris to another table. He held it while I went to order. The sandwich and platter takeout area is separate from the pizza takeout area - so if you want both, then you have to order, wait and pay separately in two separate areas.
I got a sandwich and a wrap because it was easier than going back and forth between the two venues. Both had been pre-made much earlier. The bread was slimy and the filling marginally acceptable. The wrap was doughy and pretty much all kale.

My husband had to make several trips for glasses, water and ice as well as the pizza.
Meanwhile, sitting where we were we could see the patio area. The tables never filled and were still empty when we left.

Rude customer..

6 of us ladies booked with a reservation to celebrate a friends birthday which we did. We all had meals of the luncheon menu along with drinks and a bottle of wine. We were all enjoying a second bottle of wine and many laughs.
A customer of Frind's came over to our table and had the nerve to ask us how much longer are you planning on being at the table
They were waiting for our table and she decided to question us which I thought was very rude. She should have spoken to the waitress and not us.
After spending several hundred dollars there I was pissed as they should not tell there customers what table they will eventually sit at.
Won't be in a big hurry to go back.
