About
Located in the heart of British Columbia's Okanagan Valley, Mission Hill Family Estate is world renowned for its award winning wines, stunning setting and architecture, and Terrace Restaurant. Majestic mountains, a scenic lake and lush orchards encase the winery's dramatic architecture and combine to create a setting that celebrates wine, food and the arts. With organic viticultural practices that ensure care for the environment, and a timelessness that respects the family's European heritage, the winery is a refuge from the hurried pace of daily life. Visitors can sample fine wines, marvel at the vista and reflect on a process that's almost as old as time itself.

- RothburyLadyRothbury, United Kingdom169 contributionsLunch at a vineyard on a sunny day doesn't get much better than this.A short walk from our hotel in West Kelowna, it was a very worthwhile lunch overlooking the hills outside, under cover, sampling the local wine. Its a set menu with a wine flight, so don't take the car. Our server was a lovely Japanese lady who was very knowledgeable about the wine and the food we were presented with. Its a lovely walk through the fields from downtown and buses seem to regularly pass close by. We're glad we took this recommendation from the hotel.Thank you for the wonderful review of Mission Hill Family Estate. - DeborahjuneToronto, Canada729 contributionsIf you only do one winery in the Okanagan this should be the oneWe visited here once again and can't tell you enough how much we enjoy our experience over and over. It is the best tour experience in the Okanagan, in our opinion. We are wine club members and one of the main reasons we joined is so we can take guests up to not only see this beautiful property but to taste their award winning wines. This is a must see place when visiting the area, and is great property to see even for those who don't want to drink wine. For art lovers, there is the beautiful architecture, the hand crafted tower bells, the Henry Moore sculpture, the Marc Chagall tapestry and the grand piano which used to belong to David Foster and has been autographed by hundreds of stars. Take a wine tour and listen to the fascinating history of how the winery got its start (one of the first in this area!) Get to understand the passion that the owner has for this fabulous valley. Taking a tour will allow you to see the magnificent wine cellar carved out of volcanic rock and view the priceless private wine tasting room where there is even a bottle that was given to the winery from Kate and William on their visit. The views of the valley and the lake from the property are stunning. Their gift shop has some amazing finds and is well worth a look. The dining room is first class and offers some delicious food. We did another tour yesterday and want to thank Anna for a fabulous tour and tasting. She is fantastic and has a great knowledge and passion for the product they offer and to this special place. Thank you Anna for a truly great experience!Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 17, 2023

I learned a lot from him. We had a fabulous wine pairing at the cozy patio. Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were great taste and we loved them so much. After the tasting, we enjoyed the spectacular view from the winery. I highly recommend to visit this place.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten May 24, 2024
- Boris M StrukMelbourne, Australia80 contributionsMision Hill Family Estate Winery -Located in the Okanagan Valley, this was my second visit with the first back in 2004. An absolutely fabulous location overlooking Kelowna. The vision and implementation is second to none. I had high expectations given my previous visit and was not disappointed in the least. Every aspect has been carefully created leaving nothing to chance. A visual smorgasbord treating the senses. Of course the wines are first class and most enjoyable. I rank this as the number one location to visit in the Okanagan Valley. You will not be disappointed.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten June 7, 2024

Unfortunately Mission Hill “FAMILY” Estate Winery may only be enjoyed by a family with 2 or less children. It does not permit a third or more child to attend a reserved tasting/tour at this time. We’ve enjoyed this winery for many years and shared many wonderful memories there but now that we’ve expanded our family by 3 young ones, we’d have to leave one child at the hotel?? in order to partake. Very disappointing! We’ll enjoy and spend our time and money at all the other wineries in the neighbourhood that gladly truly accept families!!

My husband and I do a wine tour every year. The first time we went to Mission Hill it was mediocre at best.
That was about 7 years ago, about 3 years ago we decided to give it another try. The service at the tasting bar was marginally better, so we decided to try the restaurant. The view is spectacular. Easily the best in the entire Okanogan. However, service felt rushed and our cheese was covered in moldy spots. We vowed to never eat there again.
Which brings me to this year. With Covid wrecking havoc on everybody's travel plans, we decided to look at each vineyard we were going to visit this year and ensure there was no booking in advance required. Some of them did require some sort reservation, but it was easily done online. We had stated booking over 6 weeks before our arrival to ensure we would be able to taste the ones we wanted. Mission Hill had only elevated experiences to book. Not just a taste and purchase. With the cheapest at $35 per person. We were not interested in a tour, picnic or anything like that so we assumed that we could just go in.
The day arrived for our west kelowna wineries and Mission Hill was our first stop. We arrived 10 minutes after opening. Only to be stopped before we could even park and told they are ONLY open for reservations. They are booked for the next 3 days and there is no way they could help us.
To put things into perspective, in 3 days, we visited over 15 wineries. Most of the ones we had reservations for we were early, it was a little difficult to properly time that many stops, but they were still able to accommodate us. The ones that we passed on our travels that did require them but we stopped on a whim and we didn't have any were still able to fit us in with a little wait, but that is to be expected. To be completely turned away was definitely the final straw for this winery for me.
On a very positive note, due to being turned away, we had extra time to find a couple new places. We passed Frind estate winery and didn't think it was open yet. A quick Google search showed they were in fact open, required reservations and were booked. They were still happy to see us and were able to let us have a quick taste (while still maintaining social distancing)
If you are in the area, I highly recommend visiting them. Friendly, down to earth and delightful wine. We even stopped by the bakery and picked up some snacks for the road.

My husband and I went for a wine tasting experience at Mission Hill and it was truly, a wonderful experience. Due to Covid, we had the opportunity to taste the different delicious chosen wines in our own private room, probabaly one of the nicest room of the Winery, which certainly made this whole experience even more special. Our sommelier, Alfredo Jop, was very knowlegable and personnable anc we highly recommend him to anyone who not only wants to learn more about the specific wines, but also about the history of the winery and his founder.
Thank you again Alfredo, we will be back!

Extremely disappointed in their customer service. They are now charging $15 for a kid to come along. They get a cider to join the "experience" with you and a souvenir at the gift shop. We called and one employee said if there is an area in the comments online to just enter it and if not gave us the number for the receptionist. We just called and they are forcing you to pay $15 even if your kid won't drink the cider (ours is very picky water only) and we don't care about the souvenir. Only place I have ever heard of doing this. Also, their website tells you nothing about what the kid gets we had to call to find out.

I visited the Mission Hill estate with a group of friends on a stormy day in June, and we were all greatly impressed by the personable service and illuminating conversation provided to us by the mission hill team. Our guide through the wine, Shayne, was engaging and charismatic and provided a high level of service that felt unique and engaging despite the fact that she must be leading the same tour countless times.
I was also impressed by Pheobe, one of the concierge, who made us feel at home at the estate and went out of her way to briefly show us around the beautiful property and assist us in finding a way back to the city before the storm swung back around again!

Today was my birthday and my best friend and I booked 5 wine tours. Our first stop was Mission Hill, Sharon was our wine tour guide. She was amazing!!! Fun, funny, entertaining, knowledgeable, informative, she gave us great recipe ideas to pair with all the wines, even took pictures of us and snuck us a taste of the amazing oculus (which we definitely purchased). Highly recommend Mission Hill for a wine tasting and if you can ask for Sharon, you will not be disappointed!!
Also note on all 5 tours Sharon was the only one, that gave us tips on how to smell, swish and taste the wine to get the most from the tastings.

The experience consists of a guided tour of the winery followed by a superb wine tasting with cleverly chosen food pairings.
Our tour guide Jacob clearly loved his job, and brought us through the history of the winery itself as well as of the Von Mandl family who engaged one of the world's best architects to design the impressive hilltop property which has the lines and form of a medieval monastic settlement, complete with an 8 storey bell tower whose bells ring out the hours punctuated by chimes on every quarter.
An oculis in the courtyard admits a sliver of natural light to the wine cellar far below, which alone is worth the price of the tour.
A magnificent 15 by 15 foot replica painting of Chagall's "Animal Orchestra" adorns the wall of the wine tasting room, where, on long polished wooden tables our wine was already poured and soon to be paired with foods individually chosen for their ability to make our taste buds and palates dance with gastronomic delight. Here, our guide Jacob was in his element. I have met far older sommeliers who impressed me less than this young man did. With his guidance I and my companions were taken on a journey of the senses, tasting fine wines as if for the first time, such was the excitement we felt at the discovery of the subtle flavours triggered by the complementary food pairings.
The whole experience was made complete by the brilliantly placed and sculptures in the grounds.
Days out do not get much better than this.

We were extremely disappointed when we were turned away at the gate because we didn't have a reservation....and we just wanted to walk around the grounds. I had been to the website and while the reservations page indicates the tours, tastings & restaurant, it doesn't say anything about not being able to walk around the grounds without a reservation for a tour etc. I understand new protocols have to be in place with Covid, but they need to communicate and advertise much better. Still don't understand why we couldn't walk around the grounds without entering any indoor space. They weren't sympathetic or helpful at all....poor customer relations!

My wife & I attended a Culinary Class “Pasta Perfection”. The value of this event was incredible! Lots of great food! Lots of great wine! But what made it the most memorable was the incredible service from one individual, Georgia! Georgia was the private events captain for the event. She went out of her way to make everybody feel extremely welcomed and her wine tasting notes and explanations were second to none! We will be signing up for many more of these classes thanks to Georgia’s incredible customer service! The chefs were also incredible and entertaining. Thank you to Mission Hill for putting on these fantastic events.

We booked the private lunch at the estate and it came with vineyard and cellar tours and 4 course meal with 4 wine pairings. The food and wines were both fantastic and so is our tour guide Lily Anna, very friendly and always patiently answering our questions. We will definitely come back again next time!

Do we have to be part of a tour to walk through the vineyards and look at the sculptures?

Wow, I'm super late on this, never received an alert. No, you absolutely do not. You can freely walk the area and take photo's from the beautiful views. The whole space is a mini gallery of beautiful things and worth the visit.
