Total tourist crap, but I thought it was fun.

Expensive, seen nothing... Amethyst shop at the entrance. To get in you have to pay $8/person, then you end on a scarp pile where you can 'chose' from and pay by lbs on your way out. What a waste of time and money. Seen no mine panorama...

The first thing they made us do was a tour. It cost something like $6-8$. The tour is rather short . Then they turn you loose on their pile of rocks. The cynically part of me wonders if they pick out all the good stuff and then let all the silly tourist pay them to haul away the garbage or... More

My husband and I were a little disappointed with not being able to hammer and chisel on the leftover rubble. Don't bother with taking the tools to this mine you can only shuffle through the loose stuff but there was plenty of amethyst laying around.

We took a drive out to the Amethyst Mine last week so we could pick our own pieces of amethyst up. It was fun and interesting to see all the different shapes and sizes that were available.

Then you can take them and do wonderful things like tumbling for jewelry or make... More

This was our second time here. We love it! So much fun! All ages enjoy it! We got bags for less than $20.00! We will definitely be back. We don't even look at the other mines in the area! Family owned and operated. Visited in August this time. No flies!!

We heard this was a great place to explore and so glad we found it! A little far out but easy drive and fun navigating the dirt road and hills...fun! Interesting geology of the mine and historic shifting of the fault! Long family history and still working it! Enjoyed the digging of the rock fields and finding our own gems!... More

We visited the mine on August 24th. We had a fantastic time. The kids loved that we could find our own treasures and then wash them up to see how they'd shine. We found quite a few pieces to take home. We had our camper trailer with us, and we decided to leave it at the bottom of the hill.... More

My parents were visiting from Ottawa and so we made the trek to the mine with them and the grandkids. I don't know what I was expecting but the drive in to the site was crazy. I don't recommend doing it after a big rainfall. I would imagine that the road would be pretty rough. It's a lot of driving... More
