The route is beautiful and well signposted. We enjoyed fabulous landscapes and views. It's a shame about the stretches on the narrow state road with no pavement and therefore dangerous especially for those with children or dogs in tow. The problem then is returning to the Colonno car park. We waited for the 3.50pm bus, which arrived at 4.20pm, it didn't stop even though we waved to signal our presence. The driver signals us to wait for the next one, after 5pm. We move on foot to reach the next stop where two desperate Australians make us understand that they have suffered the same treatment. We wait for the bus which this time we stop and get on the road and demand to get on despite the protests of the other sardine passengers already exasperated by the compression. It is clear that the transport service is undersized and that the problem is a long-standing one and no one wants to solve it. If you have to organize yourself with your own means then perhaps it is better to change the name of the greenway itinerary because very little of the green remains, suffocated by the exhaust fumes of those who necessarily organize themselves differently with their own car. The figure of m remains. of Italy and civilized Lombardy made with foreign tourists who combine the beauties with which nature has endowed our wonderful country with an eternally and inexorably disorganized people.

A long walk that crosses the villages overlooking Lake Como. Some stretches along the lake, others under the mountain, many pass through ancient villages, the only problem is that the stretches - but few - on the asphalt road are often without pavement.
Along the route, in addition to enjoying the view, you can admire elegant villas and make some stops in the bars along the lake or discover small hidden treasures such as some small churches or the nativity scene house.
Everyone chooses the time to dedicate to the route, those who stay on the lake could do it in two half days

Got the C10 bus from Como to Colonno, took about 45 mins. Great walk which is well signposted. Was hillier than I expected but nothing me and the kids couldn’t cope with (but would not take pushchair for example!). Great back streets, able to admire the view from so many different angles. We stopped for lunch in Lenno, on the lakes edge, really nice…then onto Tremezzo…we stopped here for ice cream and then got the bus back. Was a great experience. Do take water with you!

What a beautiful walk but it's not a gentle stroll! We parked at Colonno and found the start pretty easily. The route is well sign posted and there's also a run of paving slabs with silver markers in them to follow. It was very, very hilly but worth it. Oh to find little back streets and spots by churches to rest a while. We also took in some geocaches enroute (geocaching.com) and watched the ducks fishing. We came across my ideal dream villa too complete with infinity pool and hot tub... a girl can dream!
We stopped for the evening in Lenno and had dinner at the Lake edge. My wonderful husband then walked back to get the car!! It seems that we did the hard bit and the rest of the walk was fairly flat! Maybe next time!

Worth the detour ! If possible, park the car in one of the villages you pass through and take the bus towards Colonno (there are 3 stops - exit at the last stop in the village). Go up on your right and the circuit begins (the start is poorly indicated but then no problem). We cross beautiful villages, beautiful views of the lake. The hike is not difficult. We went to the end of the circuit without rushing to enjoy the landscape.

With the rain the lake has another colour, another appearance, even another sound... but it always remains fascinating! Traveled the stretch from Lenno to Colonno and back. 16,000 steps of emotions!

If you are up for a walk then do this. It’s a 10km walk from colonno and we did it on our last day and wish we’d done it on our first. Round every corner is another different thing to see- some of the best views of the lake and some amazing houses- not just the famous villas just beautiful family homes that you would love to live in. Best day we had …….

We did about 60% of the Greenwalk beginning at the southern end. The pathway is lovely and did not have many tourists/crowds like just about everything else in Lake Como. There are public restrooms along the route (free) but beware if you plan on bringing a stroller as the cobble stone streets and/or steps are just impossible to maneuver at times.

It was difficult to find the start of the path in Colonno, bus has not stopped there and we needed to take Uber from anither town to go back. And even then we struggled to find the beginning. So see on signs on the floor as well:) Though overall well
marked, in several places we lost the path, but found it later anyway. From Colonno to Lenno - quite a lot constructions on the way. From Lenno to Tremezzo path is more pleasant. In majority path avoids busy roads, but most of it you follow the auto road, not fully pedestrian. Overall still good experience, I would recommend, just don’t have too high expectations.

I have utterly fallen in love with this trail. At 10.5 km end-to-end, and only minor ups and downs, it's tiring but not exhausting for someone in half-decent shape to complete, and the setting changes so frequently that there's always something interesting to look at (or photograph). Since I live on the opposite shore where we go completely without direct sunlight for two months of winter, this mostly sunlit path is a particular treasure in the off-season!
Of course, for those with less time or energy, it's also easily broken up into smaller sections. The segment from Griante to Mezzegra is all level walking along the lakeside for those who prefer a pleasant stroll, Mezzegra to Colonno has various ups and downs through towns and along the hillsides. My favorite section is Colonno-Lenno, which starts around rooftop level and weaves through picturesque town squares, garden plots, and neighborhoods for about 4-5 km / 1-1.5 hours.
Most frequent ferry service is to/from Lenno, Tremezzo, and Cadenabbia, and the C10 bus (Como-Menaggio-Colico) runs the entire length of the route on the lakeside road. There is also easily accessible parking at the Colonno end, Lenno, and to a lesser extent, Cadenabbia.

We’re staying in Bellagio and I wondered how we get to and from the Greenway? Where’s the best place to start and finish. We’re quite keen to complete the full 10K.
Thanks

Hi! My husband and I are spending a few nights in the middle of June in Varenna, across the lake (first time in this area for both of us). We'd like to plan a picnic to bring over to the Greenway del Lago di Como. Can anyone recommend specific areas/hamlets that might be best to simply sit by the water, eat & drink our own picnic, and soak up the sun? Ideally we wouldn't want to walk a lot of the trail, but are certainly interested in must-see spots, or just an ideal part of the trail to relax and take in the sights (not looking for a pool/lido area but just open space near the water). Thank you in advance!
