Good museum with important finds

A very good selection of finds from Moche and Lambayeque periods in a modernist 1966 building. It would be a shame just to see the Tumbes Reales Sipan museum. While you're in... read more

After going thru the Museum Reales de Sipan, I went to this museum. Great displays, interesting scenes of various aspects of those civilizations, fishing, homelife, spinning and weaving, pottery making. Great pottery displays plus an adults only erotica section!

A very good selection of finds from Moche and Lambayeque periods in a modernist 1966 building. It would be a shame just to see the Tumbes Reales Sipan museum. While you're in Lambayeque make sure to spend an hour here to see additional excavation discoveries of really high quality

I see other reviewers comparing the Bruning with the Museo Tumbes Reales (both in Lambayeque). To be honest, in a head-to-head the latter wins, no problem. But there is another way to evaluate these two musuems. Bruning was a collector, and most of his displayed works come without an "archaeological context." In contrast, Museo Tumbes Reales displays amazing artifacts -... More

The Bruning Museum is interesting, good information and many beautiful objects. But if you have to choose I would opt for the Musea Tumbes Reales, also in Lambayeque. That is big, very well done with loads of information. The only downside is that there you are not allowed to take photo's and in the Bruning you are allowed to do... More

An excellent museum with exhibits outlining and comparing the various cultures of northern Peru including Vicus, Moche, Lambayeque and Chimu. There are exhibits of pottery and ceramics, textiles, mummies and other elements of the civilizations. Not to be missed are some exquisite gold pieces such as necklaces, vests, masks and jewelry items. Though the Bruning has lost is prominence since... More

After seeing the Lord of Sipan museum, I assumed that this would be a let down. I was pleasantly surprised though. They have 4 levels of artifacts with plenty of gold in the basement. Shows the diversity of artifacts from the area.

Somewhat dwarfed by the museo nacional de los tombes reales de Sipan, a short walk or motocar trip from this museum, it displays similar, but somewhat less spectacular, finds. Advantage is that here you are allowed to take pictures. Still, some amazing copper-gold objects are on display, and the museum is well worth a visit.

If you hire a guide for this museum you will get so much more out of it. Our guide spent at least 2 hours with us going from floor to floor and answered all of our questions very thoroughly. We had visited many archelogical sites prior to this in both Trujillo and Chiclayo so we had an idea of the... More
