A personal collection exquisitely displayed. Shows the passion of a collecting family with a wide variety of contemporary art masterpieces. Tastefully displayed with good notes mostly by PhD students. Definitely worth a visit if art is your thing

Works by Rothko, Frankenthaler, Pollock, Diebenkorn, Clifford Still, Hoffman, and many more. The architecture of the building with its views of the neighboring Cantor Arts Center and Stanford's park like setting s worth a visit for its own sake, Docent tours at 12:30 and 2:30....More

Oh what a collection! Easy to wander among the sparsely hung art to enjoy at your own pace. I was exposed to artists I had never seen.

Free on the Stanford University campus. Right next door to the Cantor Museum. Go to both and don't miss the Rhodin sculpture garden outside. If you are not in to modern art, esp Northern California modern art, you probably won't like much of the Anderson...More

The Anderson Collection at Stanford University, (also called the Anderson Museum) is a fabulous modern building that was designed to house the Anderson Family's collection of mostly modern art. Open most days except Tuesday, from 11-5pm, and Thursday until 8pm, I highly recommend a visit...More

When I took art history in college I had an immediate revulsion to the style termed Abstract Expressionism. To my sophomoric (literally and figuratively) sensibilities, it seemed ugly, random, and reproducible by a kindergardener with a box of crayons. Yet over the years, as my...More

Content is the accumulation of opportunistic art collecting over time with limited coherence. I feel sad for such a great venue to be such a depository. Visiting shows will hopefully enhace the quality and make a visit worthily.
