If you are an Ale lover and are in the area you must pop in to this quaint establishment. Martin, the landlord, is a character in himself and a font of knowledge when it comes to talking about micro pubs and their history. The regulars who frequent the Butchers are again quite a unique and a cross section from all... More

This is a traditional ale house, small and cozy, I think it is one of the smallest in the UK if not the smallest. A great selection of ales, a great landlord who keeps a great cellar and has been doing so for years. Located in Herne Village, it's quirky but always has a surprise beer on that's a must... More

We're punching above our weight with micro pubs and micro breweries. This is the ultimate Sunday lunchtime or alternative date night pub.

This English pub gem opened 10 years ago and is the first micro-pub in The Country. A micro-pub sells only micro-brewery cask real ale, some artisan cider and wine. They are typically very small (this one is in postage stamp league) and intimate. No gaming machines or very loud music intrude on the ability of total strangers to strike up... More

This is a very curious pub indeed, and all the better for it. Excellent beer, snacks on the bar (I visited on a Sunday afternoon) and some distinctly interesting and friendly locals. It is rather like a micro-pub, although it isn't one. I love it!

As per Martyn the convivial host and landlord; the pub opened in November 2005 making this the first Micro Pub. This is an absolute gem with a fantastic range of beer's plus some very friendly fellow drinkers. Not to be missed.

Visited here recently to see where the Micropub revolution started. This is the smallest micropub I have been in yet, but it works well, since within no time at all you will be enjoying lively conversation with the landlord and other customers over a great pint of ale. Get there early as it quickly fills up. Easy bus journey from... More

The very first Micropub in the world. The very best beer served in the world - as far as my experience can offer of course!

This is where the micropub revolution began - and now with over 200 nationwide, it's good to come here and see where it started. It's a quirky and lively place, great for locals and for people coming from further away. The ale is always spot on - this is a 'proper' pub where you can drink and chat. Close to... More

If you are looking for a quality pint of real ale look no further than this establishment. I've been an occasional drinker here for years and the beer has always been top rate. Add to the mix the great banter you always get at The Butchers with landlord Martin (who has led the micro pub revolution in the UK) and... More
