We were looking for something we hadn't done in Costa Rica previously so decided to check out the Las Pumas animal rescue. The center is owned and operated by a family who started it in the 60s. There's a decent variety of animals including large...More

We had read about this rescue and it's founder and wanted to see it. Since we live close by we took a short ride to see what it was like. Please remember this is an animal rescue and not a zoo.

Great stop in Canas to see a variety of rescued animals, and even some wild monkeys roaming the property. From large cats to monkeys to birds... it's definitely worth a stop if you are nearby. We spent a couple hours here while traveling between the...More

Although I like that the center is there for rescued animals the center needs a total overhaul. The cages were very sad looking! I would not go back

My family really loved this place. It's a great chance to get up close to some of Costa Rica's coolest wildlife. The big cats are just gorgeous, as are the birds, and the monkeys are a ton of fun for the kids. It's a quick...More

We stopped here on our way from La Fortuna to Tamarindo Beach. The animals were either rescued as babies or from being kept as pets. I felt a little bad for the animals that they were in cages (no matter how spacious) but it turns...More
