About
The history of the Château de Pressac begins in the Middle Ages since it was founded at that time, as evidenced by its medieval gate. In 1453, it was at the Château de Pressac, following the French victory at Castillon-la-Bataille, that the surrender that put an end to the Hundred Years War took place. From 1737 to 1747, Vassal de Montviel planted in his vineyards a noble grape variety originating from Quercy: the Auxerrois. Thus, the grape variety took the name of "Noir de Pressac". Later, Sieur Malbek developed it in the Bordeaux region, and the variety was then called "Malbec". In 1997, Jean-François and Dominique Quenin acquired the property. They in turn carried out important improvement and extension work on the vineyard. Château de Pressac has been promoted to Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion. Château de Pressac has different fundamental values which are simplicity, authenticity and excellence.

Very pretty place and nice staff. However, the tour was pretty shallow, lacking more details about the wine, the cépages, the harvest. We were given little to no information about the wines we were tasting other than "yeah see if you like it". At the end, we struggled to find a taxi to take us back to St Emillion and the receptionist did not offer any support. Would not recommend.

The tour guide gave wrong facts and and one of the visitors had to correct him. He was more interested in telling us about his experiences in America rather than telling us about the Chateau and the vinification process. The tasting wasn’t run properly (varying amounts were given) and he didn’t appear to know about the wines that were offered. What was worse was that he asked us repeatedly if we had paid when we had already told him that we had booked the tour and paid. This made us feel really unwelcome and he later asked us why we were still in the vineyard when we were enjoying the scenery. It’s a real shame as the wine was lovely and the grounds were beautiful. This experience with the staff was really disappointing and has discouraged me from recommending this vineyard.

The property is beautiful and the wine is excellent. The tour was nice, if brief.
They do large tour groups regularly, and are only a 5 minute drive from St. Emilion, so it's an easy visit to fit into a busy day.

We enjoyed our English language tour tremendously. I forgot the name of our tour guide, but she was an Intern athe château and was very knowledgeable about Bordeaux wines. Both my husband and I learned about the wine making process, and the classifications of Grand Cru. The wine was delicious and we took some home to the US with us. This is a beautiful château and we had a wonderful visit.

Booked ahead (you MUST book) but found the place very hard to find as we didn’t have the address and Google wasn’t sure. Finally got there. What a beautiful setting atop a hill. Amazing vista and the château itself is stunning. We were told about the history a little and about current owners, then shown where the harvest comes in and is sorted, the vats and barrel room etc. then to the tasting room where we tried several. Very worthwhile

What a great surprise! My wife and I expected a tour of the winery. What we received was much more. A genuine love of the craft of wine making along with generous hospitality. We walked along the beautiful premises, from building to building to learn the various stages of wine making. Afterwards we tasted a smooth rose, followed by 2017 vintage 6 and 18 months barreled wine, and on top of that a glass from 2011 vintage. My suggestion to you: just go there!

What a great time at this chateau. Beautiful views, historical significance, fantastic wine and very welcoming. We did the English tour and Manon was outstanding. There was even a surprise blind tasting in black glasses which was a lot of fun. I’d be happy to do it all again.

We are glad our AMA waterways Bordeaux riverboat tour brought us to this lovely place. We recommend the view, the location and the wines. The chateau and site are lovely and the tour and tasting are informative.

It is tricky to find this chateau but the tour was recommended because it was in English and a historical chateau, original parts of it date back to 16th century or before. The tour which included wine tasting was not expensive, I think less than €20 per person but unfortunately our tour guide was I think distracted by having too much to look after on our day and really did not seem to know too much about the process and we didn't leave with more knowledge than we came with. The wine tasting was very hit and miss as well with our guide being constantly distracted by other things. I guess you could sum it up by saying she did display a passion for the vineyard. Not sure how to compare to other tours as unfortunately we didn't have time to do any. But worth the trip as it is stunningly beautiful.
