The name alludes to a great war in history which does play on your mind as you walk along the shore (at least if you are into those things) The sheer width of the bay and substantial setback from the open water coupled with lush mountains that form walls on both sides lends to a feeling of being so small... This is the bay just after Parlatuvier. The beach has an open crescent shape. The sand is fine. However there are some shacks/ constructions on the beach that takes away some of the remote ambience. The beach was empty but for a couple of friendly dogs. A river flows into it to the east and going up the main road... More

Shurland has set up an amazing feeding station by the road leading between Bloody Bay and the Gilpin Trail - it is a lovely place to stop and watch the hummingbirds at a very reasonable price. Shurland is very knowledgeable not just about hummingbirds but all the local wildlife and is the only female guide to take visitors into explore... More

Shurland James Nature Park is a small enclave on the roadside leading from Bloody Bay up to the rain forest reserve. It's a beautiful place to stop and while away some time watching the numerous birds visiting the feeders which Shurland lovingly tends. She is a fount of knowledge on the birds and other wildlife of the area and is... More

Bloody Bay Beach is gorgeous. Even though I only took pictures and walked the beach I still loved the beach. It's such a legendary places. It's a super green sand beach. Good swimming. Beach had debris heaped and left by fisherfolk. New visitor beach facilities including lifeguards on duty. Additional facilities under construction on road overlooking beach.

Amazing, private and quiet. Best with a guide to really get the full experience. Lots of birds, fish and clear, calm waters.

this unspoilt uncommercialised village is as near to Paradise as you will get on this earth! Stop at the Glasgow Bar as you approach and look over the bay from the hillside before you descend to the beach. Don't expect to find attractions and restaurants...you'll find a deserted clean beach and a small bar.
