Very beautiful mosque with nice gardens and a tasteful interior design. The entry and service is not great.

There are two car parks. One that is posted as the visitors car park. If you enter the mosque through there, they provide you with a free audio tour that describes how it was built, the heritage and design elements etc etc. Strongly advise it if you are there as a visitor. The second car park is for people entering... More

An early visit proved successful as the tour buses were few !!! Spread over a huge area this grand mosque is a must see if in Oman. It's a photographers paradise. Guides are available but we walked around viewing all the praying areas and gardens at our leisure. The visitors centre, staffed by enthusiastic staff, explained the workings of the... More

We didn't know what to expect. Like everybody else we read our guide book and decided just to give it a go. 1st room we thought ... "well really that's it !?!" but it was us being completely wrong. The place is just amazing, extremely peaceful. Everywhere you look, your eyes catch fine details. Elegance is the best word to... More

A definite must see. Our first time inside a mosque and it was absolutely incredible. It was also nice to speak with the staff and to better understand the religion of Islam.

Very beautiful, but new mosque. It is a massive compound and well-worth seeing if you are in Muscat, but as compared to other historic sites in the Middle East, it leaves a little bit lacking. However, the carpet in the men's mosque is truly amazing.

All I can say is that what everyone else had said is perfectly true - a monumental experience. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, and the gardens are beautiful.

A stunning mosque set in beautiful gardens that, like most of Muscat, are really well kept. I think the third largest dome in the World. A relatively new building built in 2001 and about 12 miles from the port. It has the biggest carpet made as a single piece and which weighs 21 tons.

This Mosque is amazingly decorated, and worth the visit, you should however plan to be early in the reduced time frame where it is open for non Muslims / visitors for having the best spots for photography without too many visitors.

Went on guided tour and well worth it. Leaves you speechless. Some friendly ladyies at the end of the tour will give info over coffee / dates and you can ask anything you want to about the religion of Islam. The building is huge and the sight of it inside really takes your breath away. Made me realise that we should... More
