Staff was very friendly, hence the two stars, other than that it's a real tourists trap. 3-4 times more expensive then other tropical gardens we have seen and more a restaurant then a garden. Maybe nice for small kids or elderly people.

I really enjoyed the tropenhaus. It was very hot inside, I would say about 30 degrees. And unfortunately I could not ride my bike indoors, it was quite a stretch on foot but it was alright in the end.

My partner and I visited the Tropenhaus in Wolhusen for dinner with a large group. It was a chilly 10 degrees outside when we visited but upon entering the dining area it warms to a balmy 24 degrees. We sat as a large group and had a special set menu which rounded to approximately $100 per head. I would class... More

Easy to reach for rail travellers, there is a connecting bus from Wolhusen station, which is good, as otherwise there would be quite a long uphill walk. The garden is well-arranged, with a lot of labels and information panels. it is however really quite small, one coach party inside and there was a "traffic jam" on the paths! Avoid visiting... More

Went with my 8 year old boy to the tropical oasis in Wolhusen. Thank to the gas line crossing the land of the town of Wolhusen, the hospital and the Tropenhaus both have free heating which is why this tropical fruit farm exhibition can exist. My son found it fascinating as I did to see foods like coco which is... More

This lovely place hidden on top of a hill in Wolhusen features, amongst other things, two greenhouses with a restaurant and sitting area in one of them. There are booklets in different languages, so it is tourist-friendly. It is not just a greenhouse as it has various educational elements introducing environmental and other subjects. Those that love hiking will enjoy... More
