Just driving around the area is a real treat.
From Alba we drove out to Barolo one day, then Barbaresco the next.
The countryside is of course covered in vines on rolling hills.
The backdrop of the Alps makes for spectacular scenery.

A wonderful place for an autumn gastronomic weekend. Truffles, hazelnuts, porcini, chestnuts, local red and white wines galore.

I suggest to select the timing - better is autumn to have the colours. However, in spring you get to see more of the contours of the hills.

absolute delight to cross the Langhe vineyard hills and slopes, where tradition and wine are perfect cocktails and well kept family secrets.

The Lange-Monferrato region, recognized by UNESCO in 2014 as a world heritage site, consists of five sub-regions-Monferrato of Inferot, Nizza-Monferrato and Barbera, Canelli and Asti Spumante, the Barbaresco hills, Barolo and Grinzane Cavour castle. The largest and most famous is Barolo (3051 ha). The areas differ by the cultivated grape. Barbaresco and Barolo wines produced from Nebbiolo grapes. Nizza Monferrato is the area of dissemination and cultivation of the Barbera grape. By the way Barbara Nizza can be more expensive than Barolo or Barbaresco. Asti Spumante's "one night's champagne" is made from white Muscat. We only had one day to visit Langhe Roero, so we had to choose the main goal. The best starting points for routes are Alba or Asti. At the same time, we had to use public transport. I chose Barolo, so naturally we stayed in Alba. Public transport in this region is not developed, the bus runs only in the morning and in the evening. In the morning we were still on the road and had to get to Barolo from Alba by taxi (30 euros one way). The last bus (and, it seems, the second one for the day) to Alba from Barolo was at 19.00. We were sitting at a stop on the circular square, and the bus passed us. These are the scoundrels drivers in the GTT company in the region. There are no taxis in Barolo. It is, in fact, a village. I had to walk with my 10-year-old daughter. Once we got dropped off at Grinzane Cavour local resident on the old Fiat. Expensive cars all passed by a man with a child. Italy is a Christian country only nominally, as the cardinal said in the film "The Godfather 3". We had to walk 12 kilometers in the evening. Difficulties harden...

Almost like a land that time forgot. Vineyards, hazelnut trees, ancient villages and curvy roads. Take step back and enjoy.

Nature and wine made our day! Easy to reach from Alba. Just 15 minutes by car. A lot of nice vineyards to visit.
