About Freelance Tour Guide Gianna Chiaretti
Arezzo is a surprising town both for the beauty of its monuments and for the variety and quality of its works of art which are sometimes unique, such as Piazza Grande, Cimabue’s Cross, Piero della Francesca’s frescoes and the best XVIth c. stained glass windows in the world, which were made by a French genius called Guillaume de Marcillat.

Gianna is a great guide. She took our group through Arezzo, from Basilica di S Francesco then along some old streets and piazzas to Santa Maria della Pieve. She was able to immediately catch our attention by picking the most interesting information and telling them in very captivating manner. At the end of the tour she showed us one pretty historical café where we had fresh orange juice and espresso.

We found Gianna through TripAdvisor and we certainly weren’t disappointed. Gianna took us on a fantastic half-day tour and was great in giving tips on where best to park our car and meet up. Gianna’s English is absolutely perfect and she kept an excellent pace and level in explaining her subjects which was spot on for our group of five. Even the three girls that were with us (two of them 14 and one 16) were impressed by Gianna’s extensive knowledge of the area and her genuine enthusiasm for Arezzo. All in all, a great experience and we would highly recommend Gianna.

We found Gianna through Trip Advisor but when we met, it was like we were old friends from another life. She took our family of 8 adults on a 3 hour journey through “her town” of Arezzo, showing us the beautiful art in multiple churches. Her passion for the art and history of her city was palpable. As a retired teacher, she really knew how to explain the terminology and techniques used by artists of the Renaissance. Arezzo was also having an antique fair that weekend that we enjoyed walking through the town. Gianna’s instructions on where to park and meet were on target—perfecto! I highly recommend her!
