So worth the very reasonably priced entry ticket to both fortress and the palazzo Della Corgna. Not very often you find such well preserved buildings to explore and the views of the lake and surrounding countryside from the top are incredible. The town of Castiglione del Lago is very quaint and atmospheric.

It looked quite simple, basic to us but the ticket, combined with the Palazzo della Corgna really makes the all experience worth trying. Greatly presented and accessible old castle with fantastic view point over the lake. Don't hesitate, give it a go!

It is very nice and interesting. The view from the tower and the keep (the "Mastio") are simply beautiful. And it is also nice that you have to conquer those with stairs and steps! Important if you are with kids and you want to tell them something about the middle age.

We went inside the castel with all the kids. Simple walk on the walls and the view is amazing. Don't forget to take the stairs for the tall tower as the best view is from there.

It's all bundled in 1 fee: 5 eur for adults. Should be worth your while whether your into history or not. Museum part is limited, there are more interesting historical museums in the area. But the fresco's in the palazzo are not only beautiful but also educational with scenes from roman deities and the life of julius cesar. Refinement of... More

Take time to wander through and learn about the history of the area. Not as busy as most places when we visited which was a nice break.

The castle is definitely worth a visit - it is always impressing to see to see fortresses over 500 years old and imagine how life was at that point in time....... The small town is also a sure hit :)

This fortress town is well worth a visit. Ignore the tacky tourist shops as you enter and head unto the castle. The views of the lake are amazing and all the information is in English (and Italian!) so it's easy to pick up the vast history of the place. We really enjoyed wandering round the small cool alleyways and there... More

This is not the place we meant to visit. But thanks to our guide Luka's recommend it's a different place comparing with other Tuscany towns. Rocca del Leone keeps the original appearance pretty well. You can see how the fortress works. And there is a museo which has a lot fun.Don't forget take pictures from the fortress top with the lake background. It's amazing.

We stopped at the lake to enjoy the views and see what the town of Castiglione Del Lago head to offer. We hiked around the top of the fortress and found Kodak moments at every turn. Be careful, some of the steps are slippery and the there was little head room for my 6 foot spouse. We only spent a... More
