Aka Palazzo Ducale. Next to (and sharing a ticket with) the Rocca del Leone fortress that you do have listed, but they need to be referenced separately; they are two very different attractions.

Lots of very interesting artifacts found locally and preserved in the museum for us to see and wonder at. The most highly decorated rooms I think I've ever seen in what was essentially a private home to the Della Corgna family.

Visited castle in early October, unexpected rainy weather. Perfecto for being inside and out of weather. Pay entrance fee to see frescoes and walk around wall of castle grounds. Hooded blackbirds standing guard in olive grooves below. Wind surfers don't mind the cold when wearing a wet suit. We stayed in the area for two weeks and visited often. Use... More

Amazing history hidden between these walls. Well maintained and presented. All information displayed in Italian and English. Combined ticket allows you to explore the castle too. Good value for money!

From the fortress you get into the palace via a walled passage, where you can visit the rooms staring at amazing restored "affreschi", realised and mastered by Pomarancio (great local artist whose works are well spread in the area: Città della Pieve, Orvieto) and his team of late-Renaissance painters.

It's all bundled in 1 fee: 5 eur for adults. Should be worth your while whether your into history or not. Museum part is limited, there are more interesting historical museums in the area. But the fresco's in the palazzo are not only beautiful but also educational with scenes from roman deities and the life of julius cesar. Refinement of... More

We visited Castiglione del Lago in early May and it is a nice walled town to walk around and visit the shops. We parked ( free parking) just outside the walls of the town and walked a short distance through the entry way of the town. To tour the Castle and attached fort, enter through the museum where you pay... More

Out the back of the museum is a long narrow passage way on top of the castle wall. You can climb to the top of the towers and see spectacular views as well as the archer slots and ports for pouring boiling oil on the aggressors. If your kids like medieval knights and princesses and castles, this is a SUPER... More

A nice museum for the area but nothing like Siena, Florence, Rome etc. Since this was the Duke's palace it has very nice frescos on the walls and ceilings. Key Note: The museo is the port of entry to the castle/fort. You must pay the 5E admission to transit thru the museum to the long covered walkway that takes you... More
