If you compare this museum to other archeological museums, it has a lot of special stuff to offer. While most such museums will show stone and bronze tools from the corresponding ages, and maybe a few items utensils from medieval times, this museum has four superb collections: First there is a collection of items from Spina, a Greek trading post... We were lucky to find it open and free on New Years day. Excellent exhibits from ancient greece in excellent condition. Adorable maze garden was nice to explore. Easy walk from town centre.

Who would have thought? This museum has the largest and best collection of Etruscan artifacts in the world! Pots, necropolis, jewelry, maps, boats and visual presentations of Spina from 450 BC. Don't miss it!

We had no concept of the history of the area and the tremendous Etruscan heritage of the area. An amazing collection of artifacts well presented and explained. A real treasure of a place. Highly recommended.

Ferrara has a rich and deep archaeological history that is beautifully presented in this fine museum.

Got free entry here with our my €10 2 day FE card. The building is lovely as well as the garden. There was a lovely room with a painted ceiling and lots of interesting exhibitions including from Spina which I had never heard of.

There is. And extraordinary range of ancient surround mix to be found in this Museum. However another wonderful thing about it is the surroundings and the garden make sure you get a MyFe card which includes the entry cost. It's a bit out of town so this is one that you may like to visit by bicycle.

Great example of National Archaeological Museum! The latest restoration of the building and of the exposition system has out into light excellent collections! Take a look also at the Early Medieval monoxylon boats!

I'm giving this five stars because it's a smaller museum that tries so hard and I think I was the only one in it at the time. If you're going to Ferrara, you might as well get the MyFe pass and this is included in it. It starts out incorporating modern technology with historic artifacts and then mostly sticks to... More

A superlative collection of archaeological finds, including some stunning gold pieces. Well presented and with explanations in English, too, it is an interesting place to visit. The gardens are well-maintained and pleasant to sit in, although the fact that there is no cafe (there is only a vending machine!) means that you can't enjoy the garden with a drink.
