Just over an hour from home, Lake Iseo is always a great day trip.
In summer there is a holiday atmosphere, foreign and Italian tourists, beautiful walks.
This time we didn't go to Montisola but we had already been there and it was absolutely worth it.
If you are looking for a bit of tranquility and beautiful, peaceful views, it is a place that I can easily recommend.

Some places are very beautiful, the Iseo campsite was very good, the disappointment as always is the dirt as you move away from the tourist centers, the rotten roads and cycle paths.
I strongly advise against the bike tour of the lake, cut-throat tunnels and non-existent signage. Italy, land of contrasts where the marvelous rubs shoulders with the worst.

The lake is beautiful and there is a lot to do. Swimming is possible on selected beaches, but there are not many.
We were happy not to meet any German tourists, and hopefully it stays that way.
The lake is actually a tourist destination for Italians, which makes it very pleasant.
Luckily we can speak Italian well and got along well here, German tourists are treated very aggressively here or pay more, as we have heard. (I think that's great, please stay on the Baltic Sea!!!)
If you like it quiet without a lot of hustle and bustle, this is the right place for you.

With permission from Como and Gardia, this lake and its villages are well worth a visit. Sale Marasino we really enjoyed coinciding with a local party. This lake receives fewer tourists, making it a haven of peace. We will definitely be back, we loved it.

...I went back to Lake Iseo again!!...this time I left Sulzano and took the ferry!!...to go to Monte Isola to make the trek...to the Madonna della Ceriola!!...the Sanctuary which is located at 400 meters above sea level!!...and from here I assure you that you can enjoy a spectacular and fantastic view of the entire lake!!...which is located between the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo!!...Monte Isola...instead it is the largest natural lake island in Italy!!...and it is said to be the highest in Europe!!...here you can not travel by motorized means!!...except public ones!!...only two other islands can be seen in the middle of the Lake!!...they are the islets of Loreto and San Paolo!!...which are privately owned!!...but I was there in June 2016!!...and precisely to the Island of San Paolo!!...with the Floating Piers!!...the floating work made by the artists Christo and his wife!!...unforgettable!!!...what can I say!!!...for me Lake Iseo is truly magical!!!...it is always suggestive!!...in all seasons!!!!...even in bad weather!!...it has its own special charm!!!!!

This is a lake I didn't know yet.
On the occasion of a sightseeing tour with friends in Franciacorta and the capitals of culture, we took advantage of the opportunity to stop here.
Lake Iseo is certainly the smallest of the Lombardy lakes with beautiful islands and very beautiful villages to get to know.
Using a ferry, we navigated it entirely, also and above all taking advantage of a beautiful and warm October.
Beautiful views.
In conclusion, a small but fascinating lake.
It was worth making a stop here.

Amazing first trip to the Italian lakes. Iseo was quietly stunning. Lots of Italian families holidaying there. We only had a couple of nights there - will be back for sure. The lido next to the lake was a lucky find.
Flour - fresh pasta restaurant in town is well worth a visit.

We love to rent boats on each lake we visit. ISEO LAKE did not disappoint. We loved how quiet it was and there were many places to stop and have a drink. We circled the center island. Its a clean and quiet area. We will definitely come back.

Loved my time on Lake Iseo! The towns on the coast are peaceful and have everything you need to enjoy the lakeside views and indulge in some shopping. It's incredibly easy to take the ferry to Monte Isola which is truly unique. It's worth heading there for lunch, while the selection of restaurants is limited (I was there at the start of the season) its still worth it. Simple Italian food, you can't go wrong. Take the time to walk around the island and explore the sinding streets of the island.

The views were amazing. You need a car to go round the small villages round the lake. Take the boat ride to visit the island. The walk to the monastery is nice and worth the views from the top. You can go half way up with the local bus. Very relaxed holiday, amazing food. Very close to Bergamo airport (round 35 mins by car).

I want to go to Sarnico from Bergamo by bus. Where do I buy tickets for this?
Written August 11, 2024
The bus from Bergamo to Sarnico will depart from the bus station beside the railways station, you can buy tiket from automatic machines, if you don'find any, you can buy the ticket from the bus driver, only cash and small denomination notes or coins.
Consider that at most you can spend €15/20

I want to spend a few days at this lake before flying home to Australia. How do I get there on public transport (no car) from Verona? Where is the best place to stay so I can get some walking in? All advice welcome.
Written August 16, 2019
The Regional Train (Trenord Website) from Verona to Milan stops at Brescia (also some of the fast trains as well)and from there you take another regional train to Iseo which is only about 30 minutes.
Can't help with where to stay as was only there on a day trip but Iseo seemed a good base for exploring both sides of the lake. Probably checking the TA reviews for hotels will uncover a few good ones. Lots of Italian tourists so would check their comments as well.

Salve.. Com'è il lago in autunno? Ottobre o novembre? Solo un giorno con una bambina di 4 anni
Written October 10, 2017
buongiorno noi siamo stati al lago in agosto, penso che in autunno possa andare bene con i bambini solo se c'è bel tempo altrimenti è da evitare

Salve a tutti.
Grazie a chi mi vorrà aiutare!!
