Despite the pictorial canopy covering the exterior, the interior is a monumental example of Baroque design. You could not fit one more ornamental item inside.

The facade is covered in scaffolding so unable to enjoy the real beauty of this place although a life sized photo covers the scaffold to give you an impression

The Basicilia was directly across the street from our hotel hence easy to visit. Although under renovations, the Baroque architecture was evident through out. The various altars were very special and historical. Great piece of Lecce history.

It was under construction outside when we visited but inside it was the baroque splendour we expected. It was a great architectural experience. Must-see in Lecce.

Actually I has been to Italy so many times. One of my favorite places was here " Basilica di Santa Croce (Lecce)" There was beautiful and full of history sine 16th and 17th centuries. Every steps were the story and arts.

The exterior is under reservation. We visited in a late afternoon and had no problem of getting in. The interior was very ornate with plaster sculptures and decorations. Since we had been to Sicily and visited the baroque churches there, this one is less impressive

An explosion of barocco ! The whole very harmonious and overwhelming. The aesthetically peculiar charme is due by the distinguishing property of the "lecce's stone" It is very malleable as wax and so very easy to work

This is a beautiful baroque church in Lecce. It has an over-the-top decor both inside and on the outside walls. Absolutely lovely! We must have spent over an hour investigating the basilica. It has a beautiful rose window, and a large number of carvings. As...More
