First built in 12th century and rebuilt in 17th century under the guidance of architect Giuseppe Zimbalo - one of the most prominent artists of the so-called Baroque of Lecce. When you reach the cathedral through Piazza Duomo you see the striking facade, thinking it's the main one - well, you're wrong, it's the side entrance although much more appreciated... More

A stunning Baroque vision, spectacularly lit at night. Have not yet been inside (later today) but breathtakingly exuberant by night. I don't much like Baroque (too frothy) but if you do, you may not be able to handle this it is so excessive - in a good way.

Another amazing European church in an amazing place--Lecce is a cool Italian town that was a little out of the way but well worth visiting not your typical tourist trap but a true Italian town Highly recommend

Lecce is full of history and attractions and Duomo di Lecce lies in the Heart of this old town. An excellent choice for leisure walks and it looks great when lit up at night

Although we have viewed several churches that have built upon previous church foundations or have been a product of additions, this Duomo is unique in its mix of Norman and Baroque. I even has two distinct entrances reflecting those styles. We visited twice, once for Mass. We were moved by both the interior and the active congregation. This Cathedral is... More

Very traditional Catholic Cathedral with modern doors comemorating the visit of "Papa" John Paul II. Tucked away by the Archbishops Palace be sure to enjoy first thing in the morning before the tour groups & in the evening for the atmosphere of this beautiful floodlit square

This is worth a quick look, both day and especially at night when it's lit up. It doesn't appear that you can go inside any of the buildings, but they're impressive from the outside nonetheless. You'll no doubt stumble across it when wandering the streets.

We went into the square & duomo and paid 1 euro for the crypt which was a bit disappointing as there was nothing there - we need a few historical facts to improve it

Situate in a small plaza but with very beautiful architecture. It's a must see if you're in Lecce. Actually, all the surrounding zone (narrow streets and beautiful plaza)
