Walking in the city centre you can visit Piazza del duomo. Nice walk in this square, busy, there's the tourist info as well. You can visit the tower paying the ticket and have s nice view of the Piazza from the top of the tower.

Lecce old town is a Baroque jewel with amazing Churches all over it.
There are two main squares in the area - this one, Duomo Square and Piazza Santo Oronzo.
Duomo Square is dominated by the Duomo Cathedral and its tall bell tower you can climb. Aside is a beautiful Bishop's palace.
Contrary to the Sant Oronzo square there are no cafes and restaurants around, so the place is quieter, specially at night.

The Puglia region is a wonderful place, Salento in magic, the most important city is Lecce. Tipical Barocco Salentino.

This spacious square, leading to the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, is completely closed on three sides and has only one access from the northern side.
The church is in the southeastern corner of the square, the lavishly decorated side entrance on the northern wall is effectively the main entrance.
The Campanile was built in 1661 by Giuseppe Zimbalo, the architect of the Baroque cathedral. It has five levels, surmounted on top of each other.
Opposite the bell tower, the Palace of the Seminary with the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art is located in the western part of the square, Next to it is the Institute of Religious Sciences and the Episcopio, the palace of the Archbishop of Lecce.
It was charming for us to be there before and after we visited the cathedral.

I have heard it is better than Firenze. Not really true. One of many towns, you may see in Italy almost anywhere. Nothing spectacular.

Stand in the center of the piazza and turn 360 to take in the Baroque architecture. This is a piece of history to enjoy. The outside is as beautiful as it is inside. Return after sunset to see it once again lite up after dark..

The Piazza was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season - I traveled there in December 2019. At night, the lights were especially beautiful.

It's a nice central location, but don't go too far out of your way - you've probably seen this before.
Great for an evening stroll though.

Thank you, we found great parking just by the Porta Napoli on Via Adua, few minutes from Centro Storico.
