If you are expecting a large palace, then you will be disappointed. You have to remember that Napoleon was only on the island for a short period of time. As you walk up the long drive from the car park, before you stands an impressive...More

Come on Elba you can do better than this. Napoleon’s original residence had quite good interpretative signs but the museum next to it was a total disappointment. The museum consisted of only some lithograph prints and the odd painting. There was no interpretative signage about...More

Few kilometers from the city of Portoferraio is the Residence of Napoleon. Nice entrance and beautiful house with the view to the city and sea from the balcony. You walk through the rooms and get the insight of Napoleons life on Elba. Entrance 5€.

decorated with An impressive building coevred in large eagles and "N"'s, what an ego! Although not furnished with Napoleon's personal effects it does give an idea how he lived there. A nice way to pass an hour.
