This stretch of coastline has often been described as the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. One after another, green and rocky mountains plunge dramatically into the Mediterranean blue sea. The famous Amalfi Coast road clings to the mountainsides revealing a succession of picture book views each seemingly more stunning than the one before. Not so many years ago much of this coast was only accessible by boat. Now it is a fashionable resort area which retains the charm of past times.

We loved Positano! Just not the bus trip there! Should've taken a boat. Lots of walking up and down stairs in hot July weather too! So many great shops but the food we had in Positano was some of the best gelato, coffee and cake we had in Italy! Delicious! The beach was so hard to swim in as the... More

Fantastic weather and climate is just perfect for taking a relaxing day at the beach. Tax thongs / sandles as the rocks are killers on this no sand beach. A lot more comfortable than the main beach and just a short stroll around the headland.

This is a smaller beach than the main beach in Positano. If you want less crowds and a quieter beach give this a try.

About a 10-minute walk from town, but if you're not prepared to walk you shouldn't have come to Positano. Water shoes were a great idea to handle the stoney beach and access the water, which was very clean and deepened gradually. Reasonably priced lounges and umbrellas in front of a selection of very reasonably priced beachfront restaurants. Fairly quiet and... More

One of the best days from a 10 day tour of Italy was our day spent on Fornillo beach. My husband and I, with our 1 year old son strapped to us via baby carrier, trekked down the steps after taking the short bus ride from Sorrento. It was a quiet Tuesday with very few beach goers. We rented the... More

Although we visited Positano at the start of the low season, it was still quite busy, heading to Spiaggia del Fornilla was a good idea to get away from the crowds of the Spiaggia Grande. There were a few bars along the beach, and the water and beach were very clean. It was quite rocky though. We hired 2 sun... More

The walk from Spiaggia Grande to Spiaggia Fornillo was lovely and passed a Saracen tower converted to hotel. The beach is quiet and clean and there's a nice walk by a waterfall on the way.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely day at Fornillo. We liked that it is less crowded than Spiaggia Grande. But, it is all self serve.

We had a great day at this beach. It's less busy and way cleaner than the main spiaggia grande. There are several little bars on the beach to keep you hydrated :) It is a rocky beach so water shoes are ideal. You do have to climb down a fair amount of stairs to get to the beach but the... More

We spent a perfect day laying out, swimming, drinking, eating lunch and just relaxing as the sun set. The water was deep blue, clear and refreshingly cool in September. Yes the beach is pebbles and not sand but it was not too much off an issue. Rented a pair of beach chairs and an umbrella from Puppeto with access to... More
