This stretch of coastline has often been described as the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. One after another, green and rocky mountains plunge dramatically into the Mediterranean blue sea. The famous Amalfi Coast road clings to the mountainsides revealing a succession of picture book views each seemingly more stunning than the one before. Not so many years ago much of this coast was only accessible by boat. Now it is a fashionable resort area which retains the charm of past times.

Even though Positano looks like a very hilly town, but after walking on foot up and down the stairs several times a day, I did not find it physically challenging or tiring at all mostly because the steps are not steep and there are always...More

We stayed up the steps in Hotel Vittoria so quite handy for us to get to. We just lay on towels on the beach rather than pay 10/12 euros for a bed. Pebbles are quite hard to walk on but you get used to it.

Fornillo is a great and easy thing to do, less than 2 mins by boat from the main pier, its best to book ahead to get a front seat, but that doesn't guarantee an Italian won't move their chair in front of you anyways! which...More

The beach is the better of the two beaches in Positano. The staff is quick to get you a towel and lounge chaise and they charge 25 EUR. The water was blue and the beach is very clean. It is a pebble beach so make...More

A little more of a walk but Worth the walk - very quiet n comfortable area to relax. Surprised there was not sand but the pebbles added to the attraction. Many places to eat too.

We rented chairs from De Ferdinando for 10 euros each. We also ate at their beach bar and were impressed-very good food and friendly people. The bathroom is very accessible and it was nice to have the beach bar steps away. Beware of jellyfish in...More

For ourselves, we prefer Spiaggia Grande. For one thing, the "pebbles" on Fornillo beach are downright rocks; for another, the service is slightly better (in only in the sense of better accoutrements) on Spiaggia Grande (where, for instance, you will receive your bottle of water...More

What a find! Fornillo Beach is an EASY ten minute walk from the maddening crowds of Positano, with sun loungers and umbrellas being available from Hotel Pupetto and Da Ferdinando, both of which have restaurants on the beach.

Large free beach area was great and not nearly as packed as the main Spiaggia Grande. Being from the USA, was not used to the rocky beaches of the coast, but water was very refreshing. Be ready to brave the 300+ stairs to get there!

Great little picturesque beach which has everything you need, decent beachside food options, plenty of beach space and chairs if you want them, and the water is nice and clean/clear. It can be a bit of a trek to get here from the main road,...More

Hotel Puppetto is the hotel there that rents the chairs. You pay at the bar/deck.
