- Nicole WAlbany, New York4 contributionsExcellent hikeWe didn’t tackle the entire path — actually only a short portion, but it was well worth it. The views were spectacular! It is steep and those like myself with vertigo issue will find it quite challenging. Also, watch out for mule poop — lots of it! But even if you can only manage a few miles, it’s worth the trip.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 2, 2023
- Bettina7 contributionsPut it on your bucket list - divine!!Walked from Bomerano to Nocelle with my hubby and two kids (9 and 12) and we all loved the experience. Well marked path, fairly flat and straightforward but just challenging enough to be interesting. Amazing views, and lots of animals to spot (goats, pigs, some large birds). We almost missed the steps down to Positano (some confusing signs) but glad we didn’t. They are not as "bad" as reviews had me believe - it's more a gentle path downwards (albeit long) than a terrible staircase. We used Rainbow Limos (booked in advance) to get from Positano to Bomerano and while not cheap (what is on the Amalfi Coast) it was a comfortable, safe & fuss-free option.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 5, 2023
- Nina B6 contributionsWow so worth itTook bus from Positano to nocella, picked up the train from there. Walked little over half way then turned around and walked back. Stoped back in nocella for limon sorbet and bathroom. Then took the stairs down and walked back into positiano. Perfecto! From leaving our hotel to home was about 3 1/2 hours. Probably could have continued in further but the trail got busy with people coming from bomerano side so it was slowing us down. This trail is moderate to difficult at times but the views are worth it. Not for anyone with mobility issues, little kids it might be hard depending on what their used to.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 15, 2023
- Alice A24 contributionsViews forever, a highlight of my trip to the Amalfi CoastThis was part of a self guided walking tour with the Natural Adventure Company and it had amazing views of the Amalfi Coast. This hike is not for novices!! Hiking boots and poles are highly recommended and make sure you bring plenty of water and wear a hat as a lot of the walk is in direct sun. There was one point where you needed to scramble over a couple of large rocks (I am only 163 cm tall). I loved it and there were many hikers on the path both self guided like myself and a few small groups with guides. We hiked from Bomerano to Nocelles which with the inclines is probably much easier than from Nocelles to Bomerano. I am a fit 65 year old who walks 10-15 kms a day and I found it challenging in several places.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten October 17, 2023
- Matt RLondon, United Kingdom420 contributionsWindows on the MediterraneanI've hiked this trail twice and enjoyed it immensely both times. Starting from Agerola to Positano and then from Positano to Praiano, the experience was truly spectacular. This hike is like gazing through windows onto the Mediterranean, offering immersive natural scenery. The path is well-maintained and clean. It does require a good level of fitness, but the breathtaking views make it well worth the effortVisited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten December 30, 2023
- Jonas GunnarssonStockholm, Sweden675 contributionsFantastic views during a two hour walk - A guide is not necessary.Pick a day when the weather forecast is favorable. We went in April when there were clear skies and 17 degrees C. Perfect! We took the SITA bus 5080 from Naples (Varco Immacolatella), which departs at 8.05 and arrives in Bomerano, close to the trail head at around 9.50. From there you walk through the village to get to the beginning of the trail and then admire the views for the next two hours. The hike is easy and slightly downhill. There are a few places with slightly steeper inclines and declines, although nothing frightening. Do bring water and snacks, particularly if the temperatures are somewhat high, as there are no places to get anything to drink (or eat) between Bomerano and your goal at Nocelle. Once in Nocelle, there are a few places to stop for a drink or something to eat. In order to get down to the shore, you can either take the stairs down to Positano (about one hour), or wait for the bus that takes you down to Positano every hour (at ten minutes til the hour, every hour) in twenty minutes. Buses leave Positano for Sorrento about hourly, and from Sorrento you can take the train back to Naples. This is a great full day excursion for the people who enjoy the outdoors. A guide is not necessary.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten April 13, 2024
- NS72 contributionsWell worth it!What a hike! I reviewed this trail heavily and some say it was beginner and some say it was moderately difficult. I think it was somewhere in between. We started from Nocelle and ended in Bomerano [a little over 4 miles one way] once you reach the endpoint its another 10 or so minutes to get into the small town of Bomerano. From there you can either take a 1 hour taxi back to Positano, Amalfi, etc. . [Gonna run you about 130 euro...] or, like us, you can grind out another 4+ miles and see a different perspective than the first starting point. There are many steps throughout the trail. There were a few tours we passed but we didn't feel it was crowded and it was overall a serene and beautiful trail. The weather was stunning going to Bomerano but cloudy and a bit chilly going back. We were happy overall with how the trip went but definitely sore the next day!Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten April 19, 2024

The atmosphere of being on the mountains with an ocean view! The walk itself lasted 1.5 hours. Instead of continuing until Nocelle, our guide organised for us to walk a loop, with a traditional lunch lunch at the Shepherd's cabine. This felt like a different world. A refreshing lemonade awaited us, followed by delicious starters with local products, served with local wine and a homemade pasta dish. Before serving us a (proper) Italian coffee, the host organised music instruments for all guests present and we enjoyed some local tunes, creating a truly unforgettable moment of camaraderie and joy! - Travel the WorldSan Francisco, California1,403 contributionsWear Sturdy Shoes, NO SandalsThis hike is not for beginners or people who are not use to exercise. Yes, it does have some flat dirt parts but it’s the steep rocky spots with stairs that you will remember most. The ride on the bus to the hike (from Sorrento) takes an hour. They have a bathroom stop and place to get water and food when they drop you off. They break you out in groups of 12 to 14 and give you a guide. The hike with this tour is out and back over the same trail. More uphill on the way back. Your legs will get a great workout and your eyes will get an amazing view of the world renowned Amalfi Coast😎. Make sure to bring water and a walking stick👍 The only negative I have is our tour guide did not speak good English.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 27, 2024

As many have said, the views along this hike are stunning. We took private car service from Sorrento to the start of the trail in Bomerano. Got there a bit after 8 am, not many people. There is a cafe at the start for last-minute drinks/snacks/breakfast. We are very average when it comes to hiking; we like a bit of a challenge but not too crazy. That said, this hike wasn’t too tough but there were a few more rocky ups/downs than we expected. It took us about 3 hours to get to Nocelle, probably could have been 2.5 without any stops for pics or rest. There are a couple fountains along the way but the water isn’t great. We stopped for a quick drink at the first cafe you reach. Then it was about another 10-15 mins thru the narrow Village walkways to the Nocelle bus stop. There are some signs along the way, but there was one we almost missed (we would have started down the million steps to Positano if we hadn’t turned to see it). The road up from Positano ends at the bus stop; there was a small drink stand as well. The bus was only a couple Euros and is roughly hourly. There were a few taxis but they had already been booked in advance (there is a taxi phone number on a sign at the cafe). The bus ride down to Positano was both spectacular and a bit hair-raising, as there were numerous times we were only inches from the walls on one side and cars on the other. We got off at the beach stop, as did most others. This was certainly not a casual tourist activity, but it was well worth the time and effort.

We started in Bomerano and ended in Nocelle. It took two hours and ten minutes with photo and snack breaks.I wore walking shoes and was fine, but if you have any ankle issues,I recommend higher shoes to prevent a twisted ankle.
We hiked on a Sunday and encountered large local hiking clubs and families. Groups are very accommodating and let you pass -or pass you- with a smile and word of encouragement.
You do need to watch where you are going as the terrain is variable and a misstep easy. It is not a hard hike if you are a hiker,BUT it is not a walk in the park and you should be prepared for a variety of terrain.
Don't miss the cairns on the right about three-quarters down path. There are hundreds of them going up several levels. It's worth climbing up to take a look.
A word to the wise:We were being picked up in Nocelle and were surprised that we had NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION to let them know we were there and ready.Luckily a vendor selling limeade had reception and called for us.It was the only place in Amalfi our phones didn't work.
No bugs during our October hike, but take water and sunscreen.

If you happen to be in Positano for holidays the Path of the Gods is a must do! You can either start the path from the upper side (Bomerano) or from the southern side (Positano).
It gives you the possobility to see some great scenarios and an incredible view of the Amalfi coast. The silence of nature is so relaxing and the view really fills your eyes with wonder.
I suggest to start from the upper side, because starting from the southern implies going on on more than 1500 steps.
The path is not ideal to do for people who have problems in walking or problems to their legs, and some points are quite hard to climb. Moreover if you suffer from vertigo you might want to avoid this path, some.points are really overhanging and without fence.
You'd need around 2.30 hours to complete the trail.from Bomerano to Nocelle (Positano), one way.
From Nocelle, you can visit Positano by going down the 1500 stairs and walking around 1km...
To go back to Bomerano you can either take a taxi (quite expensive) or take 2 SITA buses:
1st from Positano to Amalfi
2nd from Amalfi to Bomerano
Due to the CoVid rules it is allowed to step.on the bus only to 20 people at a time, therefore it might take a while! :-/

I've wanted to do this walk for years ,and finally I got the chance. I was not disappointed. We were blessed with beautiful sunny February weather. It takes a fair bit of travelling from Sorrento, but the walk was actually easier and quicker than I'd thought. We walked the route from Nocelle back towards Positano.
We used the sunflower guide which I highly recommend. We took the higher route - where the path goes off to the right by a house with a cross in the garden - the signage takes you to the lower route at this point, but apparently the higher route is more spectacular which makes sense, and it was certainly very lovely!
The cafe at the end of the route is basic but has a beautiful view too so a good place to stop off before doing the steps down to the road, which was definitely the more tiring bit of the walk. We caught the bus back to Sorrento from a stop at the bottom of the steps rather than in Positano.

The only worrd that can come to my mind after a day at tue PATH of Gods: Breath taking. A trakking PATH you can not miss.
If you plan to go all the way down from Agerola to Positano, make sure that you know how to come back (if you don't want to walk back). You can take buses or a cab but if it's a crowded day, you can have problems and being in a messy line forever.

Nice walk with great views which was not hugely physically challenging at all if you walk from bomerano to nocelle. We then carried on to montepertuso and walked down the (many!) steps to Positano. I am not a huge fan of heights but the paths are wide enough that it was fine- the views are worth it! Would recommend this walk as a nice half day activity, try and start fairly early as the paths get very busy with groups.

My daughter and I hiked The Path of the Gods a week ago, and it was an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend you get a local guide to accompany you, ours knew the history of the area and the names, uses of all the plants and herbs. Around every bend you will find a breathtaking view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, part of the Mediterranean. I would call this hike moderately difficult. Be sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes. This is a must.

Highly recommend doing this hike - it is certainly doable for anyone of normal fitness and the views were unlike anything I have ever seen. You can really see as far as the end of the sea! The path can get thin (and the cliff drop is extremely high) so do make sure you're only going when it's clear skies. Take water as there won't be stops until the end.
We hiked up from Fuoro / Praiano to the start of the path, then to Nocelle, and then took the steps down. The hardest parts by far were the paths up from Praiano ( it is extremely steep up so would recommend starting from the actual path in Bomerano for a much easier walk. There are 1700 steps from Nocelle down to the bottom of the road near Positano- while it wasn't hard going down, I wouldn't recommend doing it if you're planning to do hikes the next day as our calves had delayed onset pain for several days, which made walking down stairs quite painful! Something to bear in mind.

Grazie
