About
The museum is located in the heart of the historic center of Savona, a stone's throw from the Assunta Cathedral, the Sistine Chapel and the Oratories. The exhibition itinerary traces six centuries of the history of Savona and Albisola ceramics. A fascinating journey through eras and styles, from the Renaissance to the twentieth century, from Futurism to more contemporary art. More than a thousand works to testify the deep bond of a tradition with its territory.

We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who also gifted us with a bag of delicious mini Easter eggs.
The museum is very well curated and the team behind it is fresh and young.
I'm very glad I've finally visited this gem in the heart of the city.
Will definitely come back! :)

Superb museum, to visit absolutely. The rooms are beautiful and the modern museography is exceptional. It is undoubtedly, by its quality and originality, the first destination to visit in Savona.

This museum, housed in what it was a building for a bank for the 'poor' much encouraged by one of the Popes who was born in Savona, is now a modern and varied museum but the ceramics part is impressive, not only for the collection which is vast but also for the building which shows some signs of the time when it was built and used as a bank (graffiti preserved on the walls is worth noticing) but also for the way it has been modernised. From outside one would never guess but do not miss it!

If you are nearby (eg Genova), try to visit this little gem even if you are not into ceramics. On the day we went we had the museum to ourselves. The layout is bright & modern with excellent explanatory notices in English. The Apothecary ware alone is very impressive & the final 8 minute video, though only in Italian, is a feast for the eyes with a very ingenious use of mirrors to enhance the colours of the objects.
