About
Saint Andrea is the Patron Saint of the fishermen. The church is located above the oldest part of Torbole sul Garda in a panoramic position, with view on Lake Garda and surrounded by an olive grove. Saint Andrea’s Chapel was first mentioned in a document dating back to 1175. The church was rebuilt in late Baroque style after the devastation by the French troops of General Vendôme in 1703, but former architectonic elements were maintained. The alter-piece in the apse is noteworthy, and represents Saint Andrea’s Martyrdom, by the painter Giambettino Cignaroli (1706-1770) from Verona. The figures in the painting, detailed and realistic, are believed to have been modeled after commoners from the village. In the two aisles there are two wooden statues, representing St. Giuseppe and the so called Madonna Romani, after the name of the sponsor who donated it.

Nice old church
May 2019 • Friends
A nice old church with a lot of steep steps, worth it for the view. The site must have been a fortified position before the church was built.

We visited this lovely church in September of 2016 - it is quite a steep walk up to it - but certainly worth the effort! It affords one of the loveliest panoramic views I've seen...

great view

We were there only at night when the church was closed. However, the view over the town and lake, and into the mountains was excellent. Pity we had to leave the following morning, otherwise we would have gone back to have a look.

Worth the climb!

I walked up the reasonably steep steps to reach this beautiful church and firstly admired the amazing view. Second in my admiration was the old olive trees - I wondered how much they had seen in their time. Thirdly I made my way into the church and spent a few moments of calm - feeling the peace and also looking at the ornate pictures, statues and ornaments. There was also a candle alter to remember your loved ones by. I didn't venture into the burial ground itself but this was a beautifully kept area which you could look into through the access ways. All in all it was a good, private, moment in time.

Central to Torbole and near Lake Garda; plenty of seating outside as well as inside. Seems to have market stalls at least weekly. Not ornate and fairly modern; upkeep excellent.
Attractive Altar.

This is a lovely church, sitting quite high up with lovely views of the Lake.
It is free, and on entry the alter is stunning.
It is well worth a visit.
