Not to be missed

The medieval centre of San Pellegrino is worth every step - some magnificent architecture, fantastic quaint buildings and typical Italian sights are well worth the walking.

As a family we love just wandering through Italian towns and cities and discovering nooks and alleys as we go. Maybe because Viterbo was pretty much flattened in WW2 you just never get the same sense of age here. It's all been rebuilt... but it doesn't have the same feel as elsewhere. Rather a disappointment.

Viterbo is a fantastic town, perfect for a day trip from Rome. Center is picture-perfect, it is amazing how lovingly it was maintained to maintain its medieval look and feel up to this day

Took a while to find a parking space but we were soon out of the car and exploring this beautiful historic University city.... solid and austere yet charming. We have visited most of the " famous" Italian touristy cities but this was authentic Italy......quiet and peaceful with the locals just living life. We stopped for a coffee in Bar Central... More

The historic centre of Viterbo is simply stunning. We arrived at Viterbo Porta Romana by train and our walk to our 12th century tower accommodation in the walled city, began with the entrance of the ornate Porta Romana, what a great introduction. The centre is filled with many beautiful buildings and then there is the history and stories/legends, two stories... More

You won't see a wonderful church or an unforgetable monument in Viterbo, but the old town has its charm. Mainly by night when groups of young people wander around its narrow and darkish streets. The vibe is really good! You can't miss the Santa Rosa church "machina". It is cheesy, but unique.

The historic center of Viterbo is wonderful. You can see/feel in the streets and building the ancient history of the city. The churches, the buildings, the streest all is wonderful. You can reach Viterbo by train or by car for a day visit. Dont forget to eat some italian food netx to Piazza del Gesu.

I did not realise Viterbo had such a large and intact medieval centre..this is a real city rather than a tourist museum but well worth a visit and lots of great bars and restaurants in the old heart of the town.

Lovely, archaeologically rich, characterful, largely unspoilt, easily walkable historic area. Several fascinatingly different churches
